"Dude, killer party! You got to have these during the school year!" Kaden slurred.
"Bro, how are you already drunk? The party barely started like half an hour ago." I said.
"The party started hal-" Kaden started. "Woah who's that girl?"
I turned to where Kaden was looking and saw Alexis Johnson. Alexis was one of those girls who was a look, but don't touch. Her blonde hair was very mesmerizing at the moment, but it was probably because I had just drank three tequila shots.
"Yo! Carter! C-dog!" someone called.
I turned, trying to find where the voice was coming from.
"Carter! Look up!" the voice shouted.
As I looked up, I was shocked to see Joey Vera leaning over the stair railings. He was obviously drunk.
"What do you want Joey?" I yelled.
"Can...can you ask...can you ask Alexis where...where my sister is?" He responded.
"Sure. I'll go ask her."
I walked away with no intention of asking Alexis, but rather to go find a beer. On my way to the kitchen, I bumped into Alexis, who just happened to be on her phone.
"Hey watch it!" She said.
"I'm sorry babe. I was just heading to the kitchen. Care to join?"
"Just get away from me Carter! I don't want anything to do with you."
"Ah, but you do. You're at my party, which means you do want something. You want a good time."
"Ugh, just go away." With that she turned, walked away, and looked down at her phone again.
"Whatever." I mumbled.
I didn't let the interaction with Alexis stop me from getting my beer. I walked into the kitchen, and was welcomed by the laughter of the guys playing beer pong.
"Hey, Carter! Come join us man! Winner takes all." One of the guys said pointing to a pile of cash and other things.
"Nah, man. I'm good."
"Aww com'n Carter! Where's the bad boy I know." A girl said.
I turned and was not shocked to see that the voice behind me was the one and only Mackenzie Marcus. A.K.A my ex-girlfriend and Queen bee of the school.
"Look Mackenzie," I started with a sigh. "I know what we had in the past was great and all. But guess what? That's in the past. You and I are never happening again."
Mackenzie's jaw dropped, and with a satisfying grunt, I turned back towards the living room.
"Damn. I didn't even get my beer." I mumbled to myself.
I debated whether to go back into the kitchen and get my beer, or just going to my room and let everyone enjoy the party.
