"You're a what?" I asked, surely he is joking. 'Hunters of the Night' sounds like a gang from television or a book.
"We're hunters that are trained to track and kill the Shadow Clan," Dean explained.
"What's a Shadow Cl-" I was cut off by the bathroom door swinging open, revealing two girls a year or two younger than me. Their eyes widened at the sight of Dean and they giggled behind their hands. l looked down blushed. God, I've never blushed so much in my life.
"I programmed my number into your phone. I'll text you after school and we can meet up with the rest of the group," Dean causally called over his shoulder, walking towards the door.
When did he get my phone? It's been in the back pocket of my jeans all day!
"What if it happens again?" I was referring to my earlier flashback. The girls were still staring at us, puzzled over what we were talking about.
Comprehension lit up his eyes and he replied, "Just don't touch anyone." Easy for him to say.
I rolled my eyes but nodded my head anyway.
Dean stopped with his body halfway out the door, his eye locked on mine and I could see humour in their depth.
"Thanks for not running away from me Tammy." He laughed at my shocked expression and left the bathroom. Damn, he can actually see into the future.
Meanwhile, the two girls stood staring at me with matching expressions of disbelief.
One of the girls step forward eagerly and asked in an awe voice, "Was that Dean Myer in a girl's bathroom? What were you two doing before we walked in?"
I sighed with frustration and snapped at her, "Mind your own business."
It was obvious we hadn't been doing what she was assuming. I'm not saying that it wouldn't be nice with Dean... but I have more self respect than to be hooking up with I guy I barely know in a school bathroom.
Fortunately for me, the bell rang and cutting off any remarks the two girls might have said. They left shortly after that, shooting me looks of...envy? I frowned; I do not understand teenager girls.
Lucky I'm not a normal teenager girl, right?

Finding my way to English class was quite the task. I couldn't find Jen or even Dean to point me in the right direction so I was forced to walk around with the school map in front of my face. And to top it all off, I was starving.
After sitting through English, I walked to the library were my designated 'study period' was.
I was actually revealed when I spotted Jens smiling face in amongst a group of cheerleaders.
"Tammy! I where were you at fist break? I saved you a seat and everything!" Jen practically screamed across the room at me.
I smiled to myself, this is going to be a long session.

Towards the end of the day, I began to get nervous about the up coming meeting. For the first time in years, I was worrying about them not liking me. Weird.
Just as Dean said, a text popped up on my screen as the last bell rang. It read:
I'll pick you up at 5.
Looking forward to seeing you Tammy
So apparently Dean was picking me up. I couldn't help the ridiculous grin creeping onto my face.
I rushed home to get cleaned up and shower. I put on another pair of skinny jeans along with a grey sweatshirt and chucked my hair into a messy bun. I was ready.
At 4:45 I left a message on the fridge telling Dad I was out hanging with friends. He'll probably have a heart attack.
When the second hand struck 6, the same car I saw my first day at Yorkshire pulled up in my driveway. The driver side door opened and Dean jumped out.
I rushed to the front door and yanked it open. Dean was already waiting for me with his hands in his back pockets. He looked a little on edge.
"Hey Tammy. You look nice." He smiled at me and placed a protective hand on my lower back, guiding me to the passenger door.
I opened it and jumped in.
His eyes expertly shifted around our surroundings, probably looking for more of those Shadow Clan people he was talking about earlier today.
"A little on edge?" I asked him, beginning to get nervous myself.
Instantly I felt the nervousness disappear, it was replaced with a fuzzy warm feeling. l looked at Dean with my eyesbrows raised.
He smiled sheepishly. I can't even believe this is real.
We drove in a comfortable silence, I couldn't decide what to ask him first.
"Why are you the way you are?" I asked finally. We were already out of town, the houses falling away in the distance.
"We are the way were are because the Hunter gene has been passed down to us. We all mature differently, as you can see. Each of us developing a unique ability, some more powerful than others." Dean explained.
"How many Hunters?" I asked, curious about how many there actually are.
"There are many facilities around the world that house people like us. But there's only a handful of us here in Yorkshire."
I fell into silence, taking all this in. Did he say hereditary? I wonder if my grandparent's were Hunters.
"You're really trained to kill?" I questioned.
"The Shadow Clan are extremely hard to kill. We have to train vigorously in order to even be in the same league as them. I personally enjoy using the double Sabre." His boyish grin nearly melts my heart.
We then pull down a lane way that is hidden by the thick forest, I would have driven right past it.
I grow quiet as the house comes into view. No, not house, a mansion.
Dean parks the car and he stares at my face. I'm not sure what expression he saw but I felt his calming influence.
"Stop that," I told him, "I want to feel this my way." I unlocked my seatbelt and jumped out.
I heard his door close and he joined me at the front of the car.
"Are you ready for this?" He asked softly, surprising me by taking my hand in his. I looked at his hand in mine and wondered why I wasn't sucked back into his past.
He saw me looking at our joined hands and he answered my questioning gaze, "Your power is still blossoming, it will only work occasionally."
I frowned, "Then why did you tell me not to touch anyone?"
He bit his bottom lip and tucked a lock of hair that had come loose behind my ear, "I don't like the idea of you touching other people."
My breath caught in my throat and my heart beat quickened. I smiled shyly up at him, he returned it with a dazzling smile of his own.
Could I be falling for this unusually perfect guy? I pushed the thought to the back of my mind and concentrated on walking up the stairs to the front door of the mansion.
With one last look at me, Dean reached forward and swung the door open. I knew once I stepped through the entrance, my life would change forever.
