Magnus ran as fast as he could. His mind was racing with adrenaline since he was going to do it. He was going to stop the wedding and save himself and Alec from a life of misery. If you asked Magnus if he had thought this through, he would laugh in your face because he hadn't. Not one bit. All he could think about was Alexander and making sure they both got the happy ending they deserved. Alexander deserved it. However, a flood of nerves rushed into his system as he faced the entrance, confidence suddenly melting away leaving the shell of a petrified man. Shaking his nerves away he entered, only to have his heart shattered into millions of pieces, realisation and depression taking over his once giddy and hopeful presence.
It happened. It actually happened. The wedding actually happened. It was too late. He was too late. Magnus couldn't shake the thought out of his head. How can this be? How can Alec throw away both their happiness like that? He still couldn't believe it, thinking it was all a bad dream. He walked along the empty room, looking upon the rows and rows of empty chairs. Tears welled up in his eyes just thinking that if only he wasn't such a coward, if only he persisted more, if only he took charge of the situation and if only he had arrived earlier, he would have Alexander by his side. Why did Magnus still believe in love? He doesn't know anymore. Everyone he has ever loved has either been snatched away by death or rejected his hopeful heart filled with love. This time was no different. Letting his tears trickle down his face, Magnus walked out of the place where he lost his love, Alexander.
Day 1, Alec was already regretting going through with the wedding. This day was supposed to be about how he would start a new life, a new family, a new future filled with joy. He could see how proud his parents were of him, beaming with joy as everyone went up to congratulate him. Jace didn't seem to mind too much as he just wanted Alec to be happy in anyway possible. Lydia looked quite pleased as she finally found someone who wasn't going to leave her. Alec smiled at his new wife, not with love but admiration. She had been through so much and yet never gave up on love, strived to be the very best and stood up for what was right. If only Alec could love Lydia in the way his parents wanted, it would have been perfect. Simon and Clary seemed to be disappointed at but slowly got used to the idea and congratulated him. It was Izzy who was the hardest to convince. She seemed to be almost as sad as Alec was with his decision but never said a word about it. "Are you happy? Is this what you want?" Izzy stared into her brothers eyes as she tried to break down the wall he had put up to show no emotion. "This is what I need, Izzy" Alec tried his best to smile about the situation. "That's not what I asked. Is this what you want? Not need, want?" With a brave smile and all the courage he had, Alec told one of the biggest lies he has ever said, "Izzy, I'm happy with what I did." He looked to his side to see Lydia smiling up at him. He smiled back, wishing it was Magnus instead.
Day 7, a week since the wedding had took place and Alec's regret was eating him alive. He had thrown away his shot of happiness, Magnus' happiness, all to please the clave and his parents. If only he had known now that pleasing them was nothing compare to what he would have felt to have Magnus here, rambling on about how the Clave's faces looked as he kissed the wonderful boy in front of him. Everyone else seemed to be over the fact but teased now and then if they saw Alec and Lydia holding hands. Alec was also drowning in guilt. He took away Lydia and Magnus' chance of love for his own selfish reason. Lydia was not to blame for this, she was an amazing and brave woman who deserved much better. Magnus Bane. Where does Alec start with the warlock. He was so open and cheerful, welcoming others with warm open arms. He made Alec's heart pound in his chest just by talking to him, making Alec's day brighter by the smile on his utterly stunning face. He was quite Magical. He couldn't take being in this silence, letting his thoughts run wild like this. He needed air, he needed space. Before Alec knew it, he was outside, wandering to a place that his heart was leading him to, even if his head had no idea yet. As soon as his mind finally understood where his heart was taking him, he stopped dead in his tracks. Before him was a door to familiar to him, since Magnus' apartment was a place he couldn't never erase from his mind. But, he didn't have strength to face the man he was so infatuated with. He would only remind himself of what he could have had, only to throw it away to make everyone proud. Alec couldn't do it, walking away from the haunting memory.
