Chapter 23
I awakened to someone whispering in my ear. A smile formed on my features as I realized it was Ian. I tilted my head up and opened my eyes, slowly.
"Morning there, sunshine." I smiled up at him. He grinned and turned to look down at me.
"Morning sweet heart." He replied with a chuckle.
"What time is it?" I asked, sitting up and looking around for a clock. I watched him shrug dismissively and laughed.
"I'd say it's around one or two." He offered as he stood up and stretched. I copied his actions and threw him a bright smile.
"Hungry?" He questioned, tilting his head at me. I nodded vigorously. His look changed a little and I frowned, realizing what that meant.
"Hey, it'll be fine. We have blood bags...or if you want fresh I'm sure we could find you someone." His attempt to comfort me only made me frown at his words.
"Why would I want it fresh? That's disgusting." I spat. My response caused him to frown, too. Before I could say anything else he wrapped his arms around me.
"Pam, I love you. I want you around with me for the rest of my never ending life. For you to be around you have to do this, sometimes we won't have bags and you'll need to feed from a human." He said, his voice low.
"But you have bags now." I insisted. I didn't want to do any feeding on humans. It was because I was afraid I wouldn't be able to stop, I would kill someone.
"No, come on. This will be good for you." He replied, his voice was full of authority. I knew I had no choice so I just nodded. He let go of me and looked down, giving me as comforting of a smile as he could and then took my hand.
"I'm trusting you, Ian. We have to be back soon in case Damon wakes up." I voiced my thoughts. He didn't reply, just a quiet chuckle as he pulled me out the door. I bit my lip in uncertainty. I knew nothing good was going to come out of our adventure.
We walked outside and I headed for one of the many cars in the driveway but Ian shook his head.
"We are going for a run." He stated. I stopped dead in my tracks, crossing my arms at him.
"You know I am no runner!" I exclaimed. He shook his head at me again.
"You might not have been when you were human. Try now." He whispered. After his words left his mouth he vanished. His figure blurred out of my vision quickly. I blinked a few times and looked around, wondering where he had gone and then smiled when I realized it was a new ability I would be able to take advantage of.
I readied myself and took off. My surroundings passed by quickly and in a blur but I felt safe the whole time. Something grabbed my arm and halted me. The abrupt stop caused me to fall forward, before I could hit the ground I caught myself quicker then humanly possible. I smiled a bit at my own actions. Then, I looked over at Ian.
"Thanks for just grabbing me like that, I could have fallen." I semi growled. He smirked at me.
"But you didn't, you caught yourself. It's against your instincts to fall. So, you won't." He nodded sounding like he knew everything.
"Whatever..." I grumbled quietly, crossing my arms and trudging away from him. It was a beautiful morning but my mood had been soured.
"Pam, you need to do this." Ians voice broke through the short silence. I turned back to him and glared.
"Fine, teach me how to be a ruthless beast!" I exclaimed. My patience had worn thin and he had been dancing on a fine line of aggravation. He narrowed his eyes but smiled, nodding his head towards two people who happened to be on the trail.
I wanted to yell to them to run. I wanted so badly to help them, because I knew once we got to them that would be it. Ian wore his smile with a hint of darkness, which scared me. He walked forward, keeping a confident look about himself and I followed behind, mimicking his strut.
"Excuse me, would to two happen to know the way out of here?" He asked, his question seemed to stun the couple as they turned and looked us over. I'll never forget the deep brown eyes of the teenage boy as he gave me an approving once over.
"Actually, we seem to be lost ourselves." The girl said. Her voice sounded strong but the look in her eyes gave away the fear she was feeling. Ian wasn't intimidating and I knew I wasn't, the girl stood atleast three inches taller than me.
"That's unfortunate..." Ian commented. I humorless laugh escaped my lips and both teens attention was drawn to me. I shone my head waiting for Ians attack.
The girl shot her eyes back to Ian but it was too late. He had already sprung and by the time she had turned he was at her neck. The scene seemed to unfold slower than it actually happened. Ian forced the girls neck to the side as his fangs elongated. I watched in slight horror as he dug them into her neck roughly. Her shrieks were deafening.
The boy turned to watch, too. He saw about half of what I had before I took off.
"Kill them!" The girl yelled faintly. Ian was feeding on her violently. My eyes locked on the back of the boys head, knowing that he would know how to kill me I chased after him. It only took me a second to appear in front of him. He wasn't stupid, he knew I'd be there.
"What's your name?" He asked, his voice was extremely calm given he knew he would be dying.
"Pam. Why do you ask?" My own curiosity set in, keeping me from springing on him.
"I like to know my victims names, keep a list." He replied, before I could even register what he had said he charged me, shoving a dull knife into my side. There was a bit of a sting but I just laughed coldly as I removed the knife. Horror glimmered in the boys eyes as I licked my lips.
"Huh, sounds like a good idea, what's your name?" I asked, keeping my voice low and full of threat.
"Mitchell." His response came in a whisper.
"It was nice knowing you, Mitchell."
And with that I grabbed his head, forcing it sideways as Ian had done, and biting into his throat. There was no delicate trickle of blood, the moment my mouth made contact with the holes my fangs had made it was full of blood. I had to swallow almost immediately. I hadn't realized how thirsty I really was. I drank deeper.
I don't know how long it took me to drain Mitchell dry, but I do remember dropping his lifeless body to the ground of the woods and laying a single wild flower on his chest.
I stared down at him for awhile, Ian had left. I didn't know why, but he had. My gaze was fixed on Mitchells unmoving chest when someone grabbed me roughly around the waist and pulled me away.
"Let go!" I roared, unsure as to who was holding me. I fought against their tight grasp for a few seconds before he whispered in my ear.
"Pam, calm down, it's just me. I need to be here for you right now."
So, it's been awhile! I'm soooooooooooooooo sorry! I didn't know how fucking crazy high school would be! I'll update more tonight! I swear!
