I walked on for who knows how long. I couldn't stop thinking about what just happened. The scene replayed over and over in my mind as the same numbers kept going through my head: 303. Why did those numbers seem important? What happened to me back there? What in me snapped? Why did it attack in the first place? So many questions were swarming my mind that my head was starting to spin and I was getting dizzy, maybe it was from the fight. I stopped walking and leaned against one of the walls. I let my head stop spinnig before I sighed and looked up. Right in front of me was room 3790 the same room that Steve and I had lived in for six years. I walked over to the door and opened it. I was surprised to find it unlocked. I leaned on the door frame and looked around the room. I saw, in the corner, a blood stain from when Steve decided to fight me a few years ago. I smiled as I all the memories came flooding back to me. I looked at the beds, half expecting to see Steve sleeping in one of them, but found them empty. He's probably saying in one of the rooms by the medical center. I told myself. I stood there, just remembering. "What do you want." I asked over my shoulder. I could feel the presence of someone behind me. Turning around I saw Notch.
"I'm surprised to see you out of the medics care, especially at this time of night. Is something wrong?"
I thought about telling him about the dream and the encounter I had with the thing (still dont know what it is or what to call it), but thought better of it. I decided it was best if I refrained from making people think I'm crazy. "No, I'm fine. I just wanted to walk around." It was partly true, I did want to move around, I just had other reasons as for why.
Notch looked at me like he could tell I was hiding something. "Are you sure, Brine? You know that you can tell me anything, even if something is wrong." He sounded truly conserned.
"Yah, I'm fine. Like I said, just wanted to walk around." I said looking away.
"Then why come here? The place that you have been since I created you, why here, why now?"
I thought a moment, why did I come here? I have no need to stay, yet, why do I feel like I need to be here? "I don't know, I just feel like I have to be here. I've come here so many times before and now I end up coming here again. I guess this place will always be part of my past."
"I see." Notch said looking into the room. We stood for a moment in silence, until Notch spoke. "Well, come with me, I have to show you something."
I followed him obediently, like I had for years. He lead me down the halls and stopped in front of room 3700. He turned to me and said, "Now, no one knows about this except for you and Jeb. You must not tell any one about this until he's ready, do you understand?" I nodded. "Alright then, allow me to introduce you to Entity 303." He said swinging the door open. In the back of the lab I saw a large cage that contained him. The thing that attacked me was one of Notches incomplete tests! I stumbled backwards and hit the wall. "Is something wrong?" Notch asked confused. I looked at him and saw a look in his eye that told me he knows that I already met him.
"Yah, and you know what it is." I said.
He didn't respond but Entity did. "You? What are you doing here?" He asked, his icy voice full of fear.
I gave him a death look and he flinched. I smiled and Notch just looked between the two of us. He realized that all I had to do was give him the right look and Entity would cower. "How are you doing that?" He asked
"Doing what?" My eyes never left Entity.
"All you're doing is looking at him. and he's cowering like you just murdered his friend right before his eyes."
