*Anna's POV*
Hot club, drunk bodies, bumping bass thumping in my ear. The night wasn't young anymore, it was more than long gone. Now the moon had come out to play and it was calling on all it's wild and rowdy friends. My colleagues were less sober than when they had arrived, breaths reeking of alcohol. They were all submerged in a heated debate, drunkenly arguing about characters from a show that I had never seen before. My pale ale that I had been sipping on for hours was still sitting in my hand, signaling that it had been a long night. I scanned the dark room, longing for an exit to escape through or an open couch to sit on. To my dismay there wasn't an empty seat in the house. It was Queenie Night and local drags were putting on their best performances. Unfortunately for me, they brought on a big crowd.Out of the corner of my eye, I saw a rough group of guys walk in. Each of them looked tough as stone with their cocky smirks and "I don't give a shit" glow. One look at them and I knew the group; The Valley Gang. They were as allusive as they were ruthless and every single one of its members had a reputation a mile wide. The stories you would hear had everything from vandalism to rape as the headlines, and everyone in town knew not to mess with them or get in their way. Rumor has it they even tattoo their entire ring finger as a symbol of "marriage" and loyalty to the streets. The group gave off an uncomfortable feeling as they made their way around the room, members breaking away to go start trouble with a stranger they barely knew. I noticed a few couples at the bar hurriedly threw down their cash and beelined for the door. I intended to do the same. "Maria," I spoke quickly, "I think I'm going to head out."
"WHAT? We, like, just started warming up to the new guy. You c-" she broke her speech to hiccup, "c-can't leave now!"
"Maria, we both open tomorrow so not only am I leaving but I suggest you do the same." I checked my watch. "Actually, we technically open today. In four hours."
"FUCK!" It was so bizarre when my boss cursed; usually she was so poised and kind. "Okay, let me pay my tab and then we're outtie." As she said her goodbye's and stumbled towards the bar, I tried to keep my eyes low, not wanting to draw attention to myself, but I soon felt them wander up in curiosity. So they really do have tattoos on their ring fingers. I fixed onto the tribal-esque ink that spiraled down a long, slender ring finger. It was wrapped around a bottle of Bud Light and displayed the tattoo like a canvas up on display. After hearing so many stories I expected it to be something much more intricate and complex but instead it was a single, solid line. Just as I noticed the x on the inside of the finger, the entire hand started to move. And my eyes went right with it. Eventually they rested on the owner. Beer pressed to his lips, his piercing green eyes locked with mine for a split second. I could immediately feel my heart try to jump out of my chest. Shit. I quickly dropped my gaze and looked to the floor. But it was too late.
"I'll be right back. I have to use the restroom." I mumbled to my oblivious colleagues, setting down my beer and barely even disturbing their conversation. I immediately started to weave through the hot, sweaty crowd and head towards the ladies room. Head down and heart still racing, I barely made it halfway before I was stopped abruptly by a tall figure standing in my way. Terrified, I stared blankly at the white T-shirt in front of me. No one here is sober enough to know what's going on. No one who knows you, anyway. My mouth instantly went dry. It felt like hours had passed before I heard a deep, masculine voice.
"Where do you think you're going?" It chuckled, causing me to close my eyes for a brief second. This is it. "Excuse me, darling, but I'm talking to you." I looked up into the face of my stranger. His cold eyes peered down at me, examining my face quickly.
"I- um- was going to the- uh- restroom." I rambled quietly, moving to walk around him.
"Not so fast." He moved in front of my view again. "I'm not done talking." His hungry eyes soon started scanning my body up and down, lingering on certain areas, causing me to feel sick. "I think we should dance."
"No thank yo-"
