Without a Doubt

Different became my life

     I woke up somewhere. It was dark. I couldn't remember anything. I heard arguments going down outside the room I was in and then heard the door open. The light flicked on and Liz stood in the doorway and she was crying.
"Liz?!" I spoke, trying to see what was wrong. I sat up and she walked over to me and started balling her eyes out. I stood up to hug her, but I fell through her.
"Erik?! Why won't you wake up?!" I heard her crying while standing over the bed I was in. Or the bed I thought I was in.
I stood back up and looked at the bed and saw myself laying there. "What the fuck?!" I screamed hoping Liz would hear me, but no hope.
A doctor walked in and spoke to Liz. "I'm sorry, bu-"
"He... He's dead isn't he?" Liz spoke.
"No. Not exactly. His body is temporarily dead, but his mind is awake. I'm sorry, Elizabeth, but Erik is in a coma."
"H-how?!" She stuttered, barely speaking.
"He was in a car crash last night. They hit him straight on and flipped his car. It was pretty bad."
"Erik?! Oh god... Erik... Will he be okay?"
"We don't think so. Look, your boyfriend took some serious head trams so even if he was okay, he wouldn't remember you. It's best for you to forget him as well."
     "Hello?! I'm right here!!!!" I kept screaming but to no avail.
     Before Liz had left the room, I heard her utter "Erik, I-I'm sorry. Goodbye Erik."

I was scared, frightened, heck I was scarred. I thought I was dead. I thought Liz was hurt. I thought that my life was over. My life walked out the door balling her eyes out and now I am alone. Everything seemed rash and out of hand. Everything was over. Until I woke up.
Awakening into a world where everything is backwards. The trees were blue; the sky, green. It was as if life had flipped itself and turned my brain to mush. There were dogs flying, birds barking, fish meowing, cats swimming. Everything was flipped. Like I was going insane. I couldn't see straight, I couldn't think. Everything became disastrous. Everything became different. Different became my life.
