I ran up my road, high tops beating against the pavement. The rain hit hard on my electric green hoodie. I saw the bus stop in front of the nearest neighborhood.
"Wait!" I yelled. The bus driver rolled her eyes and waited for me. I climbed my bus and sat next to Isis and Lara.
"Hey Cleopa-" Started Lara.
"I told you to stop calling me that," I replied. I don't know why my mom named me Cleopatra, but I didn't like being called that name. It didn't seem to fit me.
"Hey Cleo," she corrected. "Everyone's talking about you visiting Lucas yesterday. What was that about?"
"Yeah," started Isis. She doesn't seem like a person who would like gossip, but she loves to get her hands on other people's business. "Are you two getting together or something?"
"What? No way! I had a few questions, that's all," I replied.
"Ok... So anyways, you study for the test in Mrs. Stittlewells class?" Asked Lara.
"Wait, we had a test?!?!" Isis and I blurted out at the same time. If we had anything in common, it's the fact that we're extremely disorganized.
"You two are hopeless..." Lara muttered. After a few minutes, the bus pulled into its lot in the back of our school. Every building had 3 stories, and we had a building for every grade. The sophomore building was huge, and we were right next to the stadium. We learn a lot of magic in sophomore year, so I guess it makes sense we're closest to where we can practice.
"ALL RIGHT KIDS! OFF THE BUS!" Screeched our bus driver. She was a frog witch, which is quite obvious from her appearance and voice. We all ran off the bus, pushing and shoving to get away from her. Lara, Isis, and I walked to the green doors of our school.
"Ugh, it's the post it notes..." muttered Isis. The post it notes were the stereotypical popular jerks of the school. Everyone called them Post-It notes because they stuck to every boy they met. They walked towards us like a cheetah about to kill its prey.
"Oh look, its loser one, two, AND three. Aren't we lucky today girls?" mocked Luna. Luna was Lucas' twin sister, and it was obvious. They had the same scrawny bodies, same fiery red hair, and the same baby cheeks. Another trait they shared was their awful personalities.
"Yeah, extremely lucky. And they wore ugly outfits just to help us insult them! How nice," Sola hissed. She had the eyes and tongue of a snake.
"You realize we're wearing the same brands, right? Or do those snake eyes of yours ruin your vision?" Isis snapped back. Sola stuck her tongue out and snapped it back in as a reply.
"Come on guys, let's just go. We shouldn't waste our time with the Post-Its," Suggested Lara. She hated fighting, and ended it as soon as she could. We all gave them one final death stare and followed the crowd into the school. Its electric blue lockers made the school colorful, along with the paintings of students on the walls. All three of our lockers were next to each other, and we were all tall enough to have top lockers.
"44-12-34..." Mumbled Isis. She always seemed to have trouble remembering things. I grabbed everything I needed for my first few classes. I was lucky to have fighting skills and potions and brewing first, because academic classes can drain the life out of you. Lara, Isis, and I split paths and headed to our destinations. First was fighting skills, and since it was Monday, we had ranked matches.
"Hello Cleo," Mrs. Nightingale whispered. Her voice was so soft and light you'd hardly expect her to be a fighting teacher.
"Hi Mrs. Nightingale! Who am I up against today?" I asked with extra joy in my voice. I was always excited to fight.
