Birdy is a shy, antisocial girl, but has a fire inside of her---not literally, though. And at all costs she tries not to hate or judge, but it's extremely hard not to when the person is her coworker, Derrick. He's extremely arrogant, rude, and the guy version of an A class bítch.
But no way is she giving up her job at The Ice Cream Shop just because her fellow worker doesn't talk, and when he does it's to insult her.
The guy is impossible, they couldn't be more different. They're basically polar opposites. Whoever said opposites attract is so far-off, more like opposites repel.
