"I can't believe we're doing this," Harry said, looking outstanding in his expensive suit.
"Yeah, it seems so surreal," I stated while nodding in agreement.
"Alright, we're starting in a few seconds. Everybody, if you could please calm down," a voice boomed. We hurried down to our respective positions, not missing a single beat.
I really couldn't believe it; we were in one of the most prestigious Churches in England, preparing for a wedding. Not just any wedding, surely this would be one of the greatest weddings ever.
A year has passed after the proposal. Time sure moves fast. It was only like yesterday when...
It was the night when I broke up with Katie. We both wanted different things and we always fought with each other so long story short... I had to end things with her. Luckily, she felt the same and so we walked away in great terms, no heartbreaks or tears. However, this was not how Harry looked at the situation.
"Louis. Are you sure you're going to be alright while I'm gone?" Harry asked, his face full of worry.
"Of course, it wouldn't be my first time alone, right? Don't worry about me; I can take care of myself. Now, hurry off or else you'll be late."
"Alright, alright. I'm really sorry about this; although I can cancel if you need me to stay..."
"No, no. I'll be alright, I swear."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes."
"Yes?"
I laughed at him. It's really adorable; the way he wants to be sure about something, "Yes. Stop worrying, I need time for myself, anyway," I insisted.
He nodded and smiled, "Again, I'm sorry. Okay, I'll be leaving. Just call me if you need anything."
"Sure thing. Have fun, bye."
"Bye, Louis. See you."
I smiled as I replayed the scenario in my head. It's been years and he never fails to make me smile even though at the darkest of times. He's perfect; I'm really lucky to know him.
Since I was home alone, I decided to watch some movies while I let time pass by. I knew he wouldn't be out long, so I decided to stay up and wait for him to come home. I picked the Harry Potter series for it would be a long night, and the series is the perfect saga to kill time.
I was halfway through the fifth movie when I glanced at the clock - 03:25 AM. Wow, he's gone for a long time now. I instantly got worried so I texted him;
Hey, are you okay? Call me if you need anything.
I sighed and looked up. It isn't like it was anything new; he tends to be spontaneous from time to time. I shrugged it off and continued to watch the movie instead.
"Louis? Lou, wake up," a voice murmured softly. It was sweet and gentle, as if the voice was of an angel's. I slowly opened my eyes and saw Harry smiling, sitting on the floor beside the couch.
I groaned as I sat up. I stretched my muscles and squinted at Harry, "Where have you been, young man?"
"Well, I have a really big surprise for you."
"Yeah, what is it?"
"Louis, will you..."
"Do you take this person to be your partner, in sickness and in health, 'till death parts you?"
"I do."
"And you, do you take this person to be your partner, in sickness and in health, 'till death parts you?"
"I do."
"You may now say your vows."
Harry cleared his throat and smiled before starting, "I have always wondered what it feels like to really be in love; to know you definitely want to be with that person for the rest of your life, to experience all your future troubles and happiness together, to just wake up in the morning and think how lucky you are to find someone who loves you truthfully.
It took me a long time to realize that the person I'm really meant to be with was right there all along. You were always there for me, but it never entered my mind to think that you are the person I've been looking for all this time. You are the person that can make me happy and feel loved all the time. I don't regret for one minute that I chose you to be mine, to open myself up to you, to have you be a part of my life.
It feels great to have an assurance that yes, I have found that person I am meant to be with and yes, I won't let that person go. I love you."
Harry smiled all throughout the ceremony. He looked elated to be in this event today, and by simply looking in his eyes, I know he found his happiness.
"Is there anyone who would like to object? No? Alright, let's proceed. Harry, you may now kiss the bride," I smiled as I said it. But as I looked at the happy bride and groom, all I wanted to do was turn back time and make everything right - I would ask him to be my boyfriend after I broke up with Katie instead of entering the seminary; make an effort to show how much I love him; and the last straw - object at their wedding. If I could, I would do anything - no, everything - to make him mine because as much as it hurts, all I want to tell him at that very moment was;
Harry, I'm deeply sorry for everything. But please listen; I do, Harry. I do take you to be my everything. I want to spend the rest of my life with you for I know I can make you happier and more fulfilled than anyone ever could. You're right - the person you're meant to be with is right here all along, you just looked at the wrong direction. It hurts to know that I could've been that person, that partner who can assure you a lifetime of happiness and love. The only flaw of this is: I had let you go. But only if you could know what I'm thinking, I do, Harry. I do love you.
