Looking again at the Night
To Liz
Through the black azure sea
Glittering diamonds piercing with intensity
Unmatched undaunted unstoppable clashes
As the galaxies crash
We are as two planets colliding
In the dark blue space we were sailing
Alone searching empty finding
The deep purple colossus or dark blue giant
First the twisting twirling exhilarating dance
That game we called gravity
And as I swirled around you I proclaimed
You are beautiful and dangerous
We grew closer and closer, bent
Inexorably drawn towards one single point
In the firmament
And as if with one great cry
The speed picked us up and threw us one last time and
WE MET EACH OTHER IN THE SKY
We are as two planets colliding
Testing each other for firm grounding
But making not a noise in the space with each pounding
As we ground each other into indigo violet meteors
Cracks pervaded our cores, our volcanoes erupted,
our atmospheres turned orange
Our fault lines shifted, forming one distinct line across a mountain
From you to me
And when it was clear that fate intended to destroy us,
it began to appear as though we didn’t care
As the diamonds and the stars stopped to stare
We are as two planets colliding
Of each lone particle we knew we were the envy
We witnessed the birth of a nebula together
And we weren’t done up there in the bright-spangled nether
Even as it began to rain our broken rocks on the dark side of the moon
You smiled at me soon
Even in the frenzy of our fight
AND WE FLOATED ON THROUGH THE NIGHT
