I open my eyes, but I think about what to. I haven't lost everyone, but I'm loosing people everyday. I don't think I can take it all. I can't get close to anyone every again.

"Jada? Can you come downstairs please?" my mom yells from downstairs. I climb down the ladder from my portion of my bed to the floor with my blanket wrapped around my shoulders. As I'm walking down the steps I hear multiple little giggles and laughs. "Wow. Look at you. You've definitely grown." I turn to see my grandmother and my grandfather sitting on the couch with my mother.

This isn't a good thing but it isn't a bad thing. My grandma and I don't always get along but for the most part I'm glad to have her, especially now. She never knew her real dad and her mom died of cancer shortly after she found out. She knows about loss.

I put a smile on my face and gave her a hug. "Hey grams. What are you doing here?" "I can't just come to visit my family?" she replied with a genuine smile. I looked over at my grandfather who had a confused face with tears in his eyes. "A who you? Mi memba a love you but mi nah rememba who you is." he said with his regular jamacian accent. Poor gramps. He's never going to get better. "I'm your granddaughter, Jada. Tianna's daughter. He just looked away. I turned to my mom. "We should take them to the mall. Show them around." "Yea sure." I said while walking up the stairs.

I closed the door and threw my blanket onto my bed. I walked inside my closet to get dressed. I put on some black joggers with a white long sleeve crop top with some black flats. I decided not a wear make up and not do much to my hair. I let it out and just put some oil in it.

I walked downstairs to see my grandfather sitting on the couch. My grandmother was upstairs with my mom, getting dressed probably. I sat next him. He looked at me with a disgusted face and said "Tianna, where duh rest if your clothes deh?" "I'm not Tianna. That's my mom" He grabbed my hands together and squeezed them tightly. "You listen to mi. Don't you eva backchat mi. Yuh eir? Don't let mi afuh bus up yuh bumbaclot." He slaps me across the face and I just let it happen because I know he can't help it. He gets aggressive when he gets forgetful.

He lets go of my hands so I get up because I'm not trying to rage up his emotions. My mom walks downstairs wearing a turquoise sundress while my grandma remains in her white shirt and denim jeans. "Is everything okay down here?" I reply "Yea everything's fine" while shakily looking at my grandfather.

We enter the mall and I start regretting wearing a crop top. It's super cold but it's not like I can change so I just bare the pain of that cold breeze. Anyways we had entered through the side with one of my favorite stores across from it. Hot topic. I look over at my mom "Fine. Do you have your card?" "No. It's in your bag." She goes in her bag, takes out my card, and hands it to me. "Call me when your done so I can tell you where to meet us." I nod in agreement and walk off into the store.

In the store there playing "Let it land" by Tonight alive. I look around and pick up a white shirt with Justin Biebers face on it, the "Daddy's lil' monster" shirt, and black and grey ombré ripped jeans. I take out my phone and text my mom that I'm going to a few other stores.

I go into Claire's, PINK, and Aeropostale. I take my phone out my pocket to call my mom and I didn't realize the time. Almost an hour and a half passed. Nor did I realize my mom texting and calling me. I call her back and there's no answer. I decide to look at her messages and text her back.
----------text----------
Mom: Jada, why aren't you picking up your phone?
Mom: I've been calling you for 5 mins now. Call me back
Mom: I'm taking your grandparents to get something to eat. Meet us where we walked in.
------end of text------
I walk outside to where we walked in to see if I see her. I don't. Where could she be?
WHOOP-WHOOP
I hear sirens and see smoke coming from a few blocks down. There seems to be a lot of damage but I walk in that direction so I could tell the cops I was separated from my family.

The police had blocked off the whole street and the sidewalk was filled with people. I was pushing through the crowd closer to scene. "STAND BACK. STAND BACK. IM GONNA NEED YOU TO STAND BACK." There was a police officer trying to keep order. "Excuse me! EXCUSE ME MR. POLICE OFFICER!?" He walks over "What's wrong?" "My mom had let me go shopping and I was suppose to meet her in front of the mall but she didn't show up and she's not picking up her phone. She was going to get something to eat with my grandparents." "Come on. Follow me. I'll get someone to talk to you." I follow him closer to the scene towards some cop cars and ambulances and I see my moms car crashed into a few other cars. "Wait wait wait. I think that's my moms car. Did it have a New York license plate?" The officer looks away. "Can I see my mom please? Or is she dead?" He points me in the direction of the ambulance. I walk over trying to prepare my self for what I'm about to see.

I'm only a few feet away and my legs are turning to jello. The medics rush my away as I hear the flat line tone. "No wait. I'm a family member!" They move to the side to let me say goodbye but it's not my mom. I lay a kiss down on her cheek and let a tear roll down my face, but that's it. "Bye grandma." I turn away to go look for the ambulance with my mom.

I walk up to an ambulance not to far from the other one. This one isn't my mom either. It's my grandfather. I already know he's going to die. Just sleeping puts too much pressure on his heart. "Grandpa? I know you do--" "Jada? Me wan fa apologize fa bein so much trouble. I'm so sorry for hurting ya." He holds my wrist and pulls me down for a kiss on the cheek. His scruffy beard rubs across my face but catches my tears. It reminds me I'll never feel that again. "Bye gramps." I smile, turn and exit the ambulance looking for the one holding my mother.

I walk into the ambulance. There's no flat line but the medics aren't doing anything. "We have to get her to the hospital. She's falling into a coma. You have to go with the police. We'll meet you at there." They rush me out of the ambulance and take off. I turn around to start to wander aimlessly but the police officer who helped me find my family shows up. "Your grandmother wanted to give you this." He hands over a necklace. "My condolences." I just stare down at the necklace a he walks away.
