"Val!!"I heard my mother's excited yell from downstairs as I threw on my toms. I groaned to myself. It was as if she was more excited for my first day at a new school than me!
"I'll be right down!" I yell back before taking my phone of charge.
"Valerie!!!!" She yells again.
"I'm coming!" I say as I half run half skip down the long, polished' oak wood stairs.
"There she is" says my mother with a grin.
"Haha, yeah here she is" I mutter under my breath a little annoyed with her making this such a big deal.
"What was that sweetheart?" She almost whispers while spreading nutella onto my bread.
"Oh nothing mom" I roll my eyes.
"Ready for your big day?" She asks with the biggest smile ever.
"How bout' that nutella?" I say jokingly. We both laugh. Mum has always been the backbone of the family. Dad is great and all but without Mum I'd probably be in Juvy. Just kidding, as I munch on my breakfast I think about different ways this day could go: I am instantly liked and make tons of friends, Everyone glares at me and pretend as if I don't even exist or I walk around campus all day alone with no one to talk to. Or you might spot a super cute guy who might be interested in you, my self conscious adds. If it were possible I could imagine her winking. As if I say back. Not meaning to, I ask my mom,
"Do you think I will make any friends?" Or will anyone like me?'
"Of course people will like you Val" She says with the most confidence while she sweeps back her perfectly brushed blond hair.
"Mum, I just have this feeling like it will all go terrible" I say with a bit of worry in my voice.
"Hun, listen to me, no one will ever dislike you unless you give them a reason to. And besides you're a great sport look at the legacy you left at your old school in Switzerland. I'm sure you'll make it trust me" Her silver-gray eyes twinkling. This was pretty odd because no matter how big of a smile she has her dull gray eyes always smile back with a no!
The butterflies in my stomach flutter in all directions as I walk towards the car.
"Oh shoot I forgot my backpack!" I say hurrying into the house before mom locks it. While running in I here my two younger sisters Kendall & Kylie laughing at me. "I'll get you two I yell laughing as I retrieve my backpack from it's nice sitting position on the warm red couch.
" I know I said looking at it, I'd like to stay and sit there too" as I slung it over my shoulder.
