Taehyung laid amongst the vividly colored coral, getting a feel of the early morning's warmth. There was a gentle drift in the aquamarine sea, giving the redhead 100% relaxation, a calm surge traveling up his spine. Jimin, who was his best friend, settled snugly atop of the younger's hair. Although one was a mermaid, the other was a tropical fish, they were the best of friends.

The sun's glimmers of light suddenly enters Taehyung's dilated pupils, causing him to quickly avert his eyes, feeling as if he was blinded. The fish did not get a chance to brace himself from the impact, thus tumbling a few centimeters away. Jimin raised an eyebrow, watching his mermaid friend gaze upon what may lie above the water surface.

Jimin,

he began to sing;

we've never been up to the surface, haven't we?

Do you want to see what's up there?

Taehyung's teal tail swished side to side, eager for the older's response, his expression as bright as his own teeth.

It must be exciting to see a new and different place,

A brand new territory, where the natives breathe only air.

Already immersed in singing, started to swim slowly towards the fresh outside air. Dancing, he twirled round and round, the little air bubbles surrounding and following him in trails, his hair shining in the sunlight, swishing to his movements.

Jimin, slightly reluctant, but curious at the same time, had no point but to follow him. He was a few months older than him, and even though he was much smaller than the other, he always had the job of making sure he was safe and wasn't up to anything bad; something he felt like King Seokjin always somewhat telepathically told him every time they met face to face in the castle hallways.

'If something bad happens, or if we're caught, we need to straight away swim back, okay?' Jimin had only heard of stories such as the surface creatures catching fish for their daily meals, which terrified him, as if watching out for sharks in the dangerous districts his younger friend sometimes enjoyed to roam about wasn't enough. Taehyung's response was simple, 'I know~!'

As soon as they were inches away from reaching the surface, the teal tailed mermaid stopped in his tracks. He was bursting with excitement, but he was also somewhat afraid. His fish friend brushed him gently on his bare neck with his fin, and signaling upwards with his other fin. 'What happened to that eagerness kid?' Jimin chuckled. With a determined face, Taehyung looked up, shut his eyes tight and held his breath, and jumped up towards the brand new place waiting for him.

The redhead opened one eye first, slowly and carefully, blinking it several times. When he finally could no longer hold his breath, he quickly inhaled, coughing and spluttering out some water that was inside of his mouth. Taehyung quickly realized that he was breathing normally, even though he was no longer in his homeland water. He looked up, the sky a beautiful pastel blue, with very few white, wispy clouds in the sky. The mermaid could still smell the faint scent of brine, but breathing the cool air through his nose gave him goosebumps, the sensation tingling all over his arms; even the salty taste of the seawater still lingered on his tongue, making him feel the need to kiss the top of the shining aqua liquid.

Taehyung was fascinated by how he cupped water in his hands, trying to carry it, and it trickled and flowed back down. Jimin watched him closely, a gentle smile resting upon his face, as his best friend chuckled, flicking his wet hair, droplets sprinkling all over him. 'Jimin, this is so cool. I thought I couldn't really breathe the outside air.' They had both heard lots of different stories about mermaids and fish going up to the surface, but most of them were horror stories. The King said that he had breathed air before, but gave no such account in detail.

The fish decided to swim around, to explore the area further. He swam towards a bunch of sandy colored rocks, and signalled the mermaid to follow. The redhead understood, and moved towards the rocks beside the brightly colored tropical fish. Taehyung peeped over the heaps, and made a small little gasp at the sight his dark colored eyes caught.

He laid his eyes on the pale colored sand, glistening quietly in the midday sunlight. A lean young man and a slightly older man, both wearing similar suits, but the younger was adorn in many different plants of the entire spectrum; Taehyung was unable to recognize any of them. The two males were laughing together, and appeared to be extremely close to each other.

The older man fixed the younger's suit, dusting off his chest. The redhead decided to study the what was called, a human. He had short dark brown hair, the fringe slightly swept his eyebrows. He appeared to be wearing a bit of black liner on his eyes, and his face had very soft features; he seemed younger than Taehyung. The multi colored plants that were placed in many different places made him look like an angel underneath the sunlight. His hands were resting on top of each other on his leg, as he swayed side to side, the two spoke about matters that the mermaid was unable to hear.

The young man made a gesture with his hand, and was holding a strange looking silver object, that resembled King Seokjin's trident, but only the size of his hand. The older man, who wore a green handkerchief that stood out, quickly shook his head, his light brown hair flopping about. The dark haired boy had a great grin on his face, and he threw the object into the sea, and it somehow miraculously landed right beside Jimin.

Jimin picked up the silver object with his fin, and poked his daydreaming friend in the arm with the pointed ends. Taehyung jumped with a fright, which grabbed the two humans' attention, but were unable to see anything beyond the rocks. 'Jimin?!' The redhead hissed. 'We were really close to getting caught!' The fish simply shook his head. 'How about you?' his voice was low, and quiet. 'You're being awfully noisy.' A second or two passed, until the mermaid realized what his best friend was talking about. He quickly placed a wet hand over his mouth, and used a finger to signal downwards. The older took the hint, and submerged back into the water, bringing the silver object along with him.

Just as Taehyung was about to dive back into the water, he suddenly heard a noise; a loud laugh. He quickly turned his head around, to get a glimpse of the two men again, and he saw the younger giving a vibrant angelic smile, as he desperately tried to hide his white bunny teeth peeking out between his soft pink lips with his hands. Just then, the mermaid could hear his heart beat rapidly, and his face felt flushed. He felt like he was in an entire new world right now, and this stranger was his world.

The older man started to walk away, and the dark haired male gave a gentle smile as he looked beyond the horizon and the nearby rocks, oblivious to the fact that someone was gazing upon him with a yearning heart.

a/n: edit on 2016 june 22nd; i just reread this chapter, and saw tht i wrote king jin instead on king seokjin, so i fixed that! and added "but" somewhere.
id rewrite bits and pieces bc some parts just look rlly bad but... i have a rule of no major editing previous published parts.
