Chapter 10

"Who want's a bet that I can beat Kyle at the 100m sprint?" J.T challenged me.

It was a couple of days after my brothers birthday and it had gotten warmer out. Right now the senior varsity track team were meeting up for fun. And J.T was doing another monthly bet.

"I'm betting you'll lose like you always do, man. Kyle is better then you." Seth said while smirking. The last bet that J.T and I did he lost. Big time. I was four seconds ahead of him, for a runner that's a lot. J.T ended up losing a hundred and fifty dollars. He ended up spending the summer mowing.

I looked at J.T, I had to race him again. It was tempting! I hadn't ran for a couple of days so I had a lot of energy built up inside of me; ready to burst. "J.T I'll race you. If I win you have to wear a dress, make-up, heels and two hundred dollars goes to me. If you win, I will be your servant for a month and do everything you ask for."

I stuck out my hand to J.T, he was fidgeting. He finally relaxed and shook my hand.

We than got ready at the line getting warmed up and ready to run. When Seth said Ready I kneeled down. Then he said Set and I put my hands behind the line and got on the tips of my toes.

Seth waited a second making me anxious to run. He know that I might fumble. He might just joined senior varsity, but he knows my weak spot. "Go!" Seth shouted at the top of his lungs.

It surprised me. J.T got moving and it finally connected to my brain to run. I started running faster then I usually do. I was catching up to him in no time, only having 50m left. I caught up to him and passed him. I passed the finish line a second before J.T.

"How the hell do you do that?" J.T asked me between pants. He had his hands on his knees trying to catch his breath. I to was panting. I was taking deep breaths and looking at the sky. The sun was peeking out from one of the clouds. I smiled, it was playing hide and seek.

I always liked looking up and seeing the sun hide behind a cloud. It reminded that I was still a kid in a huge world. A world that is ready to explored by new generations. I was snapped out of my thoughts by someone talking to me.

"Hey, um, Kyle where going to run a mile or two. Want to join us?" Seth said while helping the lazy J.T to his feet. I shook my head at the team of boys and waved my hand for them to go on.

Once they left I ran back to the starting line for the 100m and did a couple of runs. I was about to do another one when I saw Drew up in the stands. I lifted one eyebrow and ran around to the back of the stands to the stairs. I got to Drew in seconds. He was at the very top in the shade, smiling at me.

"So how long did it take for you to notice me?" He asked folding his hands behind his head.

"I didn't even know that you would even think of coming here." I told him taking a seat next to him for a quick break.

He turned his head to me and smiled at me. He then blushed and turned his head away. He was cute and his smile was even cuter, I see why girls like him so much. "You know your a good runner. Better then any runner I've seen."

I turned my head away and blushed at the comment. A lot of people have told me that, but hearing it from him felt different. A good different. "Thanks. I, um, have to get going. I'll, um, see you, um, later." I said trying to find the right words to say to him.

I was getting up to leave and heading down the stairs when he grabbed my wrist gently and turned me around. He came down one step and whispered into me ear. "Will you go on a date with me?" He said it so quietly that only I could hear and not the angels above or the devils below to hear.
