Chapter 6~The talk

Maya's POV:

Jess: So, you've lived with mum all you life?

Maya: Yep

Jess: I've always wanted to meet my mum, for my whole life I've been living with dad's new family.

Maya: So... How long have you known about...well... Me?

Jess: For as long as I can remember. What about you?

Maya: Last week.

Jess: OMGosh. That's bad!

Maya:Tell me about it!

Jess: So whats it like having a real mum?

I didn't know what to say to her question. The answer she's looking for is "Mums are great" but I can't lie to her no matter how hard I try. I always tell the truth, at least I try to anyway!

Maya: I know the answer you looking for, but that wouldn't be the truth. Mums are supposed to be there for you always, but my, I mean our, mum isn't. She's always too busy with work or trying to keep a boy friend to be bothered about, so I've learnt to just manage on my own. Just me, and obviously my best friend Riley, against the world.

She came in for a hug, and I didn't what to shout, or push her away, so I let her hug me. I pulled away after 5 seconds and I saw that she was crying.

Maya:W...what's wrong?

Jess: Its just, I've always wanted to meet you, and dad is always arguing the family, and I just feel like I've never had a proper family before, and it seems you feel the same way.

I didn't know how to respond. She had took the words right out of my mouth. I was about to ask her what it is like to have a real dad, but mum was shouting "dinners ready" so we went down stairs for dinner...
