I ran throughout the kitchen holding multiple water bottles and various foods as fast as I could to get to my room. Once there I grabbed 3 large duffle bags. While I was filling the first bag with the food, 4 large soft blankets, my phone and laptop chargers and part of my wardrobe I heard a car door close outside. I swiftly walked to the window seeing my mothers car in the drive way with my family pouring out of the four door dodge nitro. I knew I needed to hide the bags, so I threw each bag in the back of my large walk-in closet. After I closed my closet doors I grabbed the book I was currently reading and turned on my stereo.
I heard hard footsteps coming towards my bedroom door. When my father poked his head through the crack in my door he smirked and said in a cruel voice, "oh, your still here? I thought you were going to your friends for the night."
"Uh, yeah she'll be here in awhile," I responded hoping I didn't sound as nervous as I felt. He nodded solemnly and walked out of my room closing the door behind him.
As soon as he was gone I turned up my music, grabbed the duffle bags from the closet and resumed packing all of my clothes and essentials into them.
Wait one moment...
I guess I should introduce myself. my name is Elizabeth Mary Cooper, I am 16 years old. I am about 5"7 and weigh approximately 120 pounds. I live in an abusive home in small Spruce Grove, and I have recently decided along with my Aunt Julie, who does not talk to anyone in my family besides me, that I may pack everything I need and drive up to her acreage just outside of Okanogan Falls, B.C. I live in an abusive home which is why we have made these arrangements. I am leaving in 30 minutes to make a head start from my house in Spruce Grove, AB!
Back to the story...
As soon as I was finished packing I opened my window, popped out the screen and climbed out onto the roof. Slowly I climbed off of the roof and onto the driveway. Running down the street to my car I turned it on with my remote starter. I swiftly got into my car, inserted the key into the ignition, put on my seatbelt, and pulled away from my home.
It was a long 12 hour drive to Kamloops. After leaving around 5 p.m and taking three 20 minute breaks I arrived around 5 a.m Saturday morning.
I pulled into my aunt Julie's acerage and walked in the back door. Trying to stay as quiet as a mouse, I crept through the house trying to find my bedroom. what I didn't know was that my aunt Julie was awake, so when she turned on the lights and walked around the corner I gave a mighty shriek!
"Oh darling, I've missed you so much! come follow me and I'll take you to your room. oh and um, I'm sorry if I startled you." Aunt Julie lead me around the hallways until we got to my room. it had a queen sized memory foam bed, two delicately hand carved night stands with a dresser to match. there was a large closet filled with designer clothing in my size.
"Wow, this is amazing!" I explained utterly astounded.
"Why don't you unpack and come down for some coffee when you're finished. sound good?" aunt Julie asked me. while still I awe I the gigantic room, I nodded dumb-foundedly as my aunt left the room.
I trted to unpack. first my clothes, then after my 4 soft blankets, followed by my laptop and the rest of my belongings.
When I was finished I walked down the winding steps and found my way to the kitchen. Aunt Julie was standing over the sick filling the coffee pot with hot water. I sat down at the kitchen table waiting for her to finish when she started to say, "so have you looked at the clothes yet?"
Confused by her question I replied, "pardon me?"
"The clothes in the cliset. I didn't really know what you liked, but moving can be stressful so I decided to get you some nice clothes to help ease your nerves."
