~~~~~~~~~~The next day~~~~~~~~
"Hey!" I say as I walk up to Alec before first period.
"Hey! So are you ready to go in?" He says looking into my eyes. Yep, totally made a mistake telling him I loved him. All I could think about was Josh.
"Yeah, ready as I'll ever be. I really hope we don't have to dissect anything today." I say as we walked into science and sat down.
"Yeah, me neither. I hate dissecting poor innocent creatures that did no wrong to anyone." He says. I can't even look him in the eyes anymore. Dang it, I totally made the wrong decision. I just couldn't tell neither Alec or Josh that.
I was about to say something when Josh walks up and says, "Hey, lovebirds!!" I knew it killed him to say that. You could tell it in his face.
"Hey don't call us that! Just because we told each other we love each other doesn't mean you could spread it around the whole school!" Alec says.
"Hey calm down. I didn't mean to burst your popularity bubble about being in love with Shelby. She could get any guy in the school and yet she chose you. What a disgrace!" Josh half way yells back.
"Stop it guys! Stop fighting over me! I know you both love me even though you haven't said it yet!" I said that mostly directing it towards Josh. He didn't seem to catch on.
Instead of saying anything, Josh went to sit down beside me and Alec went to his actually sit in the back of the class. He never really payed attention to anything anyways.
I turn my attention towards Josh and asked "so when are you going to tell me the important thing you wanted to tell me last night?"
"Well, I was thinking I could come over to your house after school." He practically lived at my house anyways. I didn't mind one bit. "So what do you think....." He didn't finish the rest because our teacher walked in and started talking.
~~~~~~~~~~At lunch~~~~~~~~~~~
During lunch. Josh and I usually sit next to each other. We usually sat alone under a tree. It was our tree and no one ever took it. They knew not to.
"So what were you saying during science before the teacher cut you off?" I ask him once we sat down under our tree to eat lunch.
"Well I was just making sure that coming over would be alright." He says.
"Since when do you ask permission to sleep over at my house? You know where the spear key is. You could come in the middle of the night and my parents would still be okay with it."I say.
"Well okay then. I will tell you my top secret then." He says taking a bit into his sandwich.
"Ooooo it's top secret now?" I ask.
"It's been too secret all along. You just haven't known about it." He says.
"Well then I would love to know you top secret!" I say. It's getting close to the end of lunch now.
"Okay great cause it may or may not be about you." He says as his lips turn into an even bigger smile then the one he had before.
"Oooo that's even better." I say as the school bell rings indicating that it's time for study hall. I quickly throw my trash away and walk with Josh to study hall. We have every class together. We sit by each other in almost all of our classes except during Bible which our teacher put us across the room to each other. She's a mean teacher!
~~~~~~~~~After school~~~~~~~~~
We pull up into my driveway. Both me and Josh get out of the car. We reach the front door, walk in, and go straight to my room. I sit on my bed and he joins me. We are sitting cris-cross-Apple-sauce in front of each other.
"So what's your top secret?" I ask Josh.
"Oh you want me to tell you now?" He asks.
"Of course I want to know now. I've been dying all day thinking about it!" I say.
"Well in that case, your just gonna have to wait longer!" He says.
"UGGGHHHH!!!" I say.
"So you want to watch a movie?" He asks
"Only if you promise to cuddle me like every time and then afterward you will tell me your top secret!" I say putting my hand out to make a deal.
"Deal" he says shaking my hand and grabbing the movie.
After he puts the movie in, he comes and sits down next to me. I put my head on his chest and listen to his heartbeat. He puts his arm around me and puts his hand on my hip, closer to my butt than I would like but I don't move it.
After the movie was over. I asked Josh "so what was your top secret?"
"Well Shelby, you know we're best friends and all but I want to tell you...."
