I stood at the edge of a cliff, staring at the sunset. I looked over the edge, gulping. "Get a grip," I mumbled. "You just have to jump off, then it'll all be over." I took a step closer towards the edge, and debris fell into the abyss below. I'll join you soon. I thought. My mom died in a car crash, and my dad died of cancer shortly after. I wanted to jump, but my feet stayed on the ground. I didn't have the courage. I sighed and turned away from the edge. I would try again tomorrow. I started walking back towards home, if you could even call it that. Suddenly I heard voices behind me. I jumped behind a tree and watched what was happening.
A girl with short brown hair was getting punched over and over by two other girls. They all looked about my age. The girl wasn't even fighting back. She just tried to reason with them. My hands balled into fists. I felt power surging through my body. I couldn't watch this anymore. I leaped out from my hiding spot, my body glowing red. "Leave her alone!" I shouted.
Everyone turned to me. The two jerks jumped at the sight of me. "What, never seen a human with magic?" I sneered. "Now, you leave her alone, or I'll use this magic to beat you to a pulp!" They immediately ran away. The one girl stared at me, wide eyed. I deactivated my power, not wanting to scare her off.
"Need some help?" I held my hand out to her. She hesitated, and cautiously grabbed my hand. I heaved her up, and let go. She almost fell back down, but steadied herself back on her feet. "Thanks." She smiled, wiping dirt off of her face. "No problem." I replied. I walked away. I expected her to say something more, but she didn't. Once I got home, I tried to find her online. But I didn't even know who she was. I probably should have asked before leaving. The more I thought about it, I realized I didn't even say goodbye. I just rudely walked away. That's my life, I guess. I thought.
