CHAPTER 2

No, I didn't remember them. They seemed completely unfamiliar, not a single image of them remained in my mind.

"Well, I guess you wouldn't remember since we were all young then," said the girl who supposedly was the leader. "Our mothers were friends with your mother until she knew something she shouldn't have, we were told to look after you but you went missing after your mothers disappearance."

Suddenly an image flashed in my mind, a white forest covered in layers of snow, with falling snow which gathered in piles on the white ground, four kids gathered around together for warmth, I recognized them, Lucia, Alice and Cinna.

"Alice, Lucia, Cinna, I can't believe I don't remember you three!" they were my friends before I went in the orphan, but then as I cuddled together with the other three, I realized that the emotionless boy stood staring into the distance, his black hair flowed with the wind, his hair was completely staight and was smooth, his eyes were a hollow blue color. I didn't know him. I turned to Cinna and asked "Who that boy over there?"

"Oh, him? He's River, he's pretty normal, at least more normal than all of us," Cinna replied pointing at the boy who was apparently called River. Normal? He didn't seem the least bit normal to me, he was so emotionless that it almost seemed like he wasn't human.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I looked up at the white marble roof as I remembered about Cyrus, I pictured Cyrus smiling as happily as always, but I didn't think that was how he felt. Cyrus wasn't exactly what people called a boyfriend, to me, he was more of an older brother, a caring older brother. The moon shone brightly through the window, it was a full moon. Suddenly there was a loud knock on the door which made sit straight up in the bed.

"It's me, Winter," Alice's voice slipped into the room as I walked to opened the door, she looked stern and somehow worried.  She came in and slumped on the bed and I sat next to her.

"Winter, do you want to hear the good news first or the bad news?" asked Alice as she tilted her head to look at me.

"Probably the good news," I replied softly.

"Okay, so if your worried about the dude you were with before you were here, he's fine."

"Really? Wait, how do you know about him."

"Sorry, but we told River to spy on you, but now for the bad news," Alice took a deep breath and said "Are you sure you want to know?" I nodded. "The boy, Cyrus has somehow joined our opponent's team and now is one of their most excelled members." Alice finished talking and looked at me with eyes of worry. I stared at her motionlessly with disbelief.

"W...Where did you get that information, it has to be a lie," I stammered and shook my head.

"Riv...." but before Alice could finish, the door swung open.

"Alice, Winter, there's an invasion, it's not the group we're opposing, I don't know what they're after but they're strong!"Cinna said with a panicked voice. Alice and I stood up simultaneously and glanced at each other and nodded. The three of us rushed to where Cinna was heading We went through an arched doorway and into an open area just in front of the small house we stayed in.

Lucia and River was already there battling the whole group of four, Lucia was setting a few people ablaze but the fire was put out almost immediately by a young boy who seemed to know how to manipulate water. River didn't seem to be using his powers, actually I didn't even know if he had powers since Cinna did say that he was the most normal out of all of us.

"These people are targeting you, Winter, but don't worry since we're all here. And just remember that we made this organisation to firstly find you and to protect you," Alice whispered in my ear softly and then walked away to battle. That was when a thought struck me, the orphan, I had remembered that the elders saying I was dangerous, they must have hired these people to kill me!

Suddenly I felt that same feeling I had when the boy slapped me in the orphan, my eyes glowed red as light rose from the ground. The light was so bright that it blinded me from seeing anything else, my hair blew up with the light as it swept into my face.  After a few moments, the light died down, revealing what I had done.

Nothing was left of the random bunch of people who had came. They had died. Alice, Lucia, Cinna and even River looked at me with stunned faces. I felt a slight jolt forwards and then I fell backwards, after slamming hard onto the ground, I fainted, everything went into a complete field of black.
