Calm Down

I kick a chair, sending it flying into a wall just as Wally, Starfire, and Jason enter the cave. "Dick...." Jason said, slowly walking towards me and I just shake my head and point to the writing on the wall.

"They know, that means no one is safe." I said clenching my jaw tight. I felt a hand on my shoulder and I turn to see Starfire giving me a sad smile. "I better start cleaning up...." I said, about to grab a knocked over chair but Wally all of a sudden speed around the room and cleaned everything up.

I frowned and he sped up to me, taking the mask part of the costume off. "Guys, can I have a moment alone with Dick please?" He asked and Jason and Starfire left the cave. "You need to calm down." Wally said sternly, his usual spark, gone.

I rolled my eyes. "I'll calm down when Joker and Deathstroke are behind bars!" I snapped angrily, immediately feeling bad when a look of guilt took over Wally's facial expression.

Wally shook his head and pinched the bridge of his nose, something I usually do.... " Dick, look at what Bruce did to you. By giving you the Batman name, he's loaded you with more responsibility than you can handle!" Wally cried put, throwing his hands into the air and I looked down at my feet, feeling awful. "Dick, I just don't want to see my best friend turn into Bruce.... cold and bitter. Get some sleep and make sure Nightwing visits the mountain tomorrow, or the team will know something's up." Wally said, speeding out of the dark cave.

I changed into my pjamas and shuffled upstairs saying goodnight to Star and Jason on my way to my room. I collapsed onto my soft warm bed and closed my eyes, letting the darkness take over.

When I opened my eyes, I had barely enough time to get ready before I went to meet the team. I am not sure why but I was nervous and scared, what if they see right through me? I shook the thought out of my head as I entered the mountain in my motorcycle.

I put on a fake smile as I noticed the team's smiling faces. A blob of 'good to see you' and 'how ya been' were thrown around and I had to keep myself from laughing. Maybe this won't be so bad.....
