Chapter 2

I sat in the shop waiting for someone to come in as usual. The shop was quite for a while. I got off the chair and walked towards the small back room where an old tv and couch were crammed inside. I switched on the tv and sunk into the couch. two hours past and I found myself falling asleep in the quite room. I let myself fall asleep because I knew no one would be coming in any time soon.

The sound of a light chime coming from the front of the shop woke me up. I quickly got up from the couch and walked towards the front of the store. A girl about my age was standing in the front of the shop looking through the tattoo books at the front desk. I couldn't help but stare at her.

"Hey" I spoke from across the room.

She looked up startled.

"Oh hi, um do you work here ?" She called back.

I nodded my head with a small smile on my face.

"Yeah" I said gesturing for her to come into the main part of the shop.

"Okay, well I'm here to get a tattoo" she continued her voice somewhat shaky.

"It is a tattoo parlor, so I guessed that you were " I replied back with a smirk, trying to act somewhat funny.

She didn't laugh tho.

She nodded her head and walked closer to the chair where I was standing.

I tried to break the awkward silence and continued the conversation. I gestured for her to sit down on the chair and she did.

"So what are you planning on getting today?" I continued.

"Well I wanted a small tattoo right here" she said as she slowly pulled the sleeve of her sweater down. She pointed to the back of her shoulder blade.

"Oh um, okay so what can I give you?, I mean tattoo you " for some reason I was nervous.

"I want a pink butterfly" she said sternly.

"A pink butterfly" I repeated trying to hold in my laughter.

"Yeah, why are you laughing" she said in an annoyed tone.

"Well that's not the greatest tattoo choice, why don't you try something a little different"

She just stared at me with a confused look.

Instantly I knew what was going on.

"Let me guess, is this a sign of rebellion to your parents or something"

She looked at me with a surprised face. I knew that was the reason she was getting this tattoo. I did that too so my parents would leave me alone.

"Okay, it is.." She sighed.

"Either way I'm the costumer and your the tattoo artist aren't you supposed to do whatever I tell you. Your getting paid either way so why would you care?" She snapped back.

"Well tattoos are permanent incase you didn't know, and I'm sure a pink butterfly on your shoulder isn't the best choice for something that can't be erased.. Ever." I shot back.

"Well sir-"

"Harry" I interrupted.

"Okay, Harry what do you suppose I get then?" She continued, she was a bit more calmed down now.

"How about a saying or maybe a symbol, something that has meaning " I replied.

"Oh and I suppose all your tattoos have a meaning then too"

"They do" I said dryly in return.

I passed her a book filled with quotes and symbols and told her to choose one from there.

After 10 minutes she was still flipping through the pages.

She closed the book and placed it onto the chair.

"I give up,just do whatever you want" she said as she pulled her sleeve down again.

"Are you sure?" I replied

"Yeah just go" she said as she sat up in front of me.

I slowly began filling the needle with some black ink because personally I didn't like colored ink.

"This is kind of going to hurt a bit"

She smiled "I figured" .

The small needle point filled with ink reached her skin. She flinched a bit as I wrote the first word and I stopped.

"Are you okay?" I said looking at her.

"Yeah I'm fine" she replied. But I knew she wasn't. I pushed my chair closer so that my body was right behind her. "It's okay" I whispered into her ear.

I continued to write the short sentence across her shoulder.

She placed her hand on my thigh as I finished the last word. I stopped.

She quickly took her hand off my leg and her cheeks flushed red.

"It's okay" I said quietly.

I finished the last word and I wiped it off.

"your done" I said.

She got up off the chair and walked towards the mirror. she stared into the mirror backwards as she read the tattoo.

"You have to fall before you fly"

"Do you like it?" I said nervously.

"Yeah I love it " she replies.

"Thank you"

"I thought It would apply to you" I continued.

She smiled as she stared at her tattoo. It was pretty small lettering but it was still enough.

She walked over to me.

"How much does this cost" she said as she shuffled through her wallet.

"Nothing" I replied.

She stopped and looked up at me.

"I need to give you something how much is it a 100$?" She insisted.

"It's fine, your the first person to come in here in over a month"

"Um , okay..." She replied awkwardly.

"what's your name?" I asked.

"Avalon" she smiled as she put her wallet away.

"I still feel bad about not giving you any thing, how about i come back tomorrow with lunch?" She smiled.

"I don't know I might be giving someone a pink butterfly tattoo at that time" i said sarcastically.

She let out a small laugh.

"See you tomorrow" I replied.

AN: also if you want to see a photo of the tattoo I'll post it on my twitter as well just tweet me to do it so I won't forget!
