Hours later, with me constantly complaining and Orion telling me to be quite, we had finally come up with a plan. Well actually Orion came up with the plan and I just told him to hurry up. You can't blame me though I'm the one with a friend in trouble.
The plan was supposedly foolproof as long as everything goes accordingly. But when does anything ever go the way we want it to?
"Ready to go now Orion?" I ask my voice laced with irritation. Orion grins at me before grabbing the bag that I had packed earlier that morning. It seemed to have been days ago when I had packed that bag. So much time seemed to have passed since my conversation with Lizzie. Orion couldn't seem to go any slower with his planing.
"Now we're ready to go." Orion heads for the door and opens it for me. "Come on we need to get to that warehouse that you first teleported in." When Orion had first come he had asked many questions and I tried my best to answer them. It was actually quite difficult to not get mad at him. He was demanding answers from me but wouldn't answer my own in return.
"Orion have you even thought about how suspicious it would be if we walk through town together. Boys and girls don't do things together in this world. It just doesn't work like that." Orion isn't from this world he isn't supposed to know any of its rules. But he seems to already know so much. Which only makes me wonder more as to what he isn't telling me. All I know right now is that Orion can teleport and that he knew I was going to be in trouble before I even knew what was happening. Which makes him even more suspicious.
We walk out the door and leave the complex Orion is a few steps behind me which apparently makes us less suspicious according to him. We continue down the street, a couple meters between us. Suddenly my worst nightmare, Addie, approaches me. She acts as though she is better then everyone just because she knows she will be part of the domination since her parents have power. "Hey Ambria. Your back I thought we had finally gotten rid of you." She sneers with a gruesome expression on her face that seems to be hurting her.
"Nope you're still stuck with me. What are you doing here Addie shouldn't you be in school. You might lose your spot in the domination." I gasp to add more dramatic flare. "Oh wait you have a guaranteed spot because of your parents apparently." I laugh at her shocked face when she hears what I have to say. I had never actually talked to her since I always ignore her. It must be the adrenaline I'm feeling from what me and Orion are about to do.
"You can't speak to me like that wench!" She grabs me by my shoulders and just as I go in to push her away Orion swoops in and saves her. He grabs my arms and pulls me towards him careful not to touch me to much.
"What are you doing Orion? I could have defended myself." I glare at Orion.
"Ambria we need to go now." Orion states glaring at me as if this is all my fault. Was he not here when Addie came up to me and started harassing me? Or does he really not like me and he just wanted to ignore the fact that I was the victim here? A small flutter in my chest tells me that it bugs me that he hates me. I try to ignore my body's reaction to him disliking me.
"Who are you? And why are you touching that thing?" Addie snarls. This girl has some attitude. I'm really tempted to teach her a small lesson, but I know Orion would stop before I could do any real damage.
What is going on with me? First I talk back to Addie and now I want to hurt her? This is so unlike me. It must really be the nerves. I need to find Everly before I do anything else that could get me in trouble.
I completely miss the conversation Orion has with Addie and only the catch the end of it. "...It was nice meeting you Addie. But I do believe me and Ambria have somewhere to be. Goodbye." Orion flashes her a charming smile making Addie blush an unattractive red. He then turns to me his smile disappearing from his face. My stomach clenches in apprehension and I push away the hurt feelings. "Come on Ambria we better get going." We walk a few feet away before I decide we are a good distance away from Addie and it's safe to speak.
"Why would you tell her that we were together? She's going to be suspicious and now she's going to have even more reasons to hate me." Orion glares at me and I scowl back. What has Orion in such a bad mood anyway. Suddenly the realization comes to me and I realize that it must be all my fault. I'm causing Orion so much trouble. Just because I had accidently walked into him and told him that I was from another world.
He didn't have to talk to you. If he had never asked you where you were from he would never had known any better. A small voice at the back of my head informs me.
And then he felt that he had to protect me from what was about to happen to me. And how do I thank him? I go and pull him into my world forcing him to help me get Everly back. Did I even ask what he wanted? No I just thought about what I needed from him. I'm so selfish.
It was his choice to worn you. And he can teleport which means he was already involved. You don't know the whole story. That same voice reminds me.
"Orion..." I ask hesitantly. We had been walking for quite sometime and we were almost at the warehouse. He turns to look at me for a second. "I'm sorry for dragging you into all of this. And I'm sorry if I'm causing a big problem for you."
"Ambria it's alright." Orion stops in the middle of the vacant street. There is no one near us since no one comes this far out of town. Its deadly silent and you can't hear anything but the sound of our steps and our voices.
"No it's not alright. I'm ruining everything for you." Why am I so upset about this? "Everly's in trouble and it's all because of me. You have to tag along with me. I'm so sorry Orion." A small tear rolls down the side of my face, as hard as I try to stop it. Orion pulls me closer to him closing the meter that had been between us the whole time during our walk over. I ignore the fear that creeps up on me and let him wipe the tear from my face. He then proceeds to pull me into a hug.
"Ambria I don't think you understand. I chose to find out more about you. I chose to warn you about what was going to happen and I chose to help you get Everly back. I'm the one who decided to come find you instead of going back to my own world. None of this is you fault Ambria. And I'm sure Everly would agree. She chose to help you and I'm sure she'll say you're an amazing friend, that she would never give up the chance of meeting. And you're trying your best to help her out and you will I promise."
"Orion you can't just make promises that you can't keep. You can't guarantee that we will save Everly." I step away from Orion and wipe the tears from my cheeks.
"You're right I can't promise you anything but I can definitely tell you that we will try our best to make things better. Ambria I promise you." Orion watches me intently before pulling me into a hug hesitantly once again.
The embrace only lasts a moment but I can still feel the trace of his skin on mine linger. His arms could be my new home. A home is where you feel safe and welcome and that's exactly how I feel wrapped up in him.
Sometimes a hug is all you need to feel better.
"Are you better now Ambria?" Orion inquires. I nod my head not able to use my voice. We continue walking now closer together than we were before. As we get closer to the warehouse I decide to speak up again.
"Orion are you sure this plan is going to work?" I really don't want to doubt Orion but someone has to question what we're about to do.
"Ambria if this doesn't work then we'll think of something else. We will help Everly as best as we can." Orion sounds so sure of himself that I feel the doubt leave my mind. We are going to help Everly and everything is going to be alright.
"Alright let's do this. And do it well!" I state surely.
