Chapter 1

Cassey's P.O.V.

"So you're coming to my party tonight, aren't you?" My best friend, Emily, said over the phone.

"Yeah," I replied.

"Okay. Be there an hour early,"

"Okay," I tell her. "Who's all coming?"

"About every eighth grader you can think of," She replies.

Whoa that's a lot of kids.

"I've gotta go. See ya later tonight,"

"Okay, see ya," I reply and put down my phone.

I walk into the bathroom and hop into the shower.

I get out and dry off. I blow dry my hair and loosely curl the ends. I quickly throw on high waisted shorts, a Starbucks T-Shirt, a black and white cardigan, and black combat boots.

I look at the time on my phone. It's 5:45 p.m. The party starts at 7:00 p.m. I better leave because Emily wants me to be there an hour early.

I arrive at Emily's house and knock on the door.

The door swings open and Emily's twin brother, Eric, appears. He invites me in and I look around for Emily.

I spot her and walk towards her.

She hugs me and I hug her back.

"You're finally here!!!" She exclaims.

I chuckle. A girl walks up to us. She turns to Emily.

"Happy Birthday Emily!" The girl says and hands her a small box wrapped in pink and green paper.

"Thank you," replies Emily.

The girl walks away and my face drops.

"Oh My Gosh!" I say.

"What?" Emily asks.

"I forgot your birthday present at home!" I say. "I'll be right back!"

With that, I start running towards the front door.

"Cassey wai- oh my gosh!" I hear Emily say.

I make it home again and run up stairs. I grab the wrapped box on my table and run downstairs, once again.

As I'm running through Emily's lawn, I bump into somebody and fall to the ground.

"I'm so sorry!" I hear a boy's voice say.

"It's fine," I reply and look up at who I ran into.

I instantly get mesmerized by beautiful hazel eyes. 

"I'm Jacob," he says.

"I'm Cassey," I say and smile.

He smiles back.

"Are you going to Emily and Eric's party?" he asks.

"Yeah, actually that's why I was in such a hurry," I say.
