Chapter 10 - Mail
Of course, today, I had to quickly rush to Kawaii-Chan's. Apparently, Aphmau gave her my number. She called me about 3 o'clock in the morning telling me to be there by 3:30. So now, I was exhausted and you could clearly see the dark bags under my eyes.
I stumbled up Kawaii-Chan's steps, still not awake yet. I lazily knocked on her door, taking a step back afterward. She opens the door, jumping energetically.
"Why?" I asked annoyed, "Why did you want me to come this early?"
"We have to be ready, you never know when he's going out to get his mail."
"Why do we need to know when he gets his mail?"
"Kawaii-Chan has a plan!" Kawaii-Chan scurried past me, going to his mailbox. She opened the mailbox and took his mail before quietly shutting it. She ran back as I gave her a 'Why Did You Do That' look.
"What the heck Kawaii-Chan!" I whisper yelled at her, "Why in the world did you do that?!"
"Okay, listen, when Reese-Senpai goes out to get his mail (Y/n)-Senpai will run out to get my mail too. When Reese-Senpai opens his mailbox he will be confused. (Y/n)-Senpai will be like 'Oh sorry, the mailman gave us your mail.' Then Kawaii-Chan will come out asking if you got the mail and we all start a conversation."
I stare at her with a dumbfounded look, "Wouldn't he just go home after he gets his mail."
"You won't give it to him until Weston our conversation."
"What!" I almost forgot that it was so early but I quickly made my voice softer, "That will be so awkward Kawaii-Chan! I can't do that! You know I'm already socially awkward!"
"You said you would help Kawaii-Chan!"
I sighed, knowing that I couldn't go against that, "I know, I know. I'll do it, but you have to make shade you come out right away."
"Okay!" She grinned and led me inside after putting Reese's mail in her mailbox.

Thankfully Kawaii-Chan let me sleep while she looked outside the windows with binoculars. Suddenly she squealed making me wake up from my peaceful sleep. I groaned when she screamed at me to get up. I got up lazily and walked outside of the house. I squinted when the sun met my eyes. I stumbled to the mailbox, opening it and taking the mail out. I pretended to look through it as Reese looked in his mailbox, confused that there was nothing in it.
I furrowed my eyebrows and stumbled over to him. "Hey," I greeted.
"Hi," Reese moved his gaze from the mail to me.
"I think I got your mail."
"You did? That makes sense," Reese replied sighing of relief. Then he froze, "Wait you're my neighbor?"
"No, I slept over at Kawaii-Chan's for the night."
"Oh, that makes sense."
All of a sudden, Kawaii-Chan ran out of the door and sprinted to me, "Did you get the mail?"
"Yeah," I thought of a way to start up a conversation, "Why are you so excited?"
"Oh, um, I was supposed to get something in there."
Kawaii-Chan held out her hands and I gave her the mail, completely forgetting to give Reese his mail. Reese stood there, waiting for his mail patiently.
Kawaii-Chan's eyes widened a bit, "Oh, I think we got your mail Reese-Senpai."
"Yeah," Reese replied.
My eyes widened, realizing that I forgot to give him his mail. I turned to him, "I'm sorry! I forgot to hand it to you!"
"I-It's okay."
I put my head in my hands, "Now I feel so stupid."
Reese patted my back, "Come on, it's not really important."
I lift up my head and take Reese's mail from the pile, giving it to him.
"Again, I'm sorry."
"No worries, it's not that big of a deal."
"Um, Reese-Senpai!" Kawaii-Chan squealed, "Do you want to come in for some coffee or tea, as an apology?"
"I'm good but-"
I give him puppy eyes, begging him to come in.
Reese sighed, "Fine, I'll come."
I smile at him and whisper a thank you as I go by.

"-and the house caught on fire!" Kawaii-Chan finished the story she was telling. I was half asleep because of the lack of sleep I had. If only Kawaii-Chan wouldn't wake me up so early. "(Y/n)-Senpai are you even listening?"
I snap out of my dreams, "Huh-" I look up to see a slightly hurt Kawaii-Chan, "No, Kawaii-Chan, I'm sorry it's just because I didn't sleep much.
"Yeah I know, you were playing video games all night."
"Was not!"
"Was too!"
I raised my eyebrows, surprised that she was arguing with me. Reese's laughing cut me off from what I was going to say. Reese turned to me, "Oh my goodness, your expressions are hilarious."
I slightly smile from seeing him so happy when suddenly the doorbell rings. "I'll get it!" I yell, running to the door. I open the door to see Zane looking down at the floor.
"Hey Kawaii-Chan, um-"
"Zane!" I cut him off, "What are you doing here?"
His head flung upwards and his eyes met mine. "(Y-Y/n)? What are you doing here?"
I laughed nervously, "Oh you know, I had a sleepover with Kawaii-Chan last night." I slightly looked back to see Reese watching us and Kawaii-Chan staring at Reese with hearts in her eyes.
"What? You were at home last ni-"
I cut him off, "W-What are you talking about?" I gave him a look that told him to shut up but it made him even more confused.
"You were-"
"Okay, bye Zane! See you later!" I shut the door on his face before turning around to Reese and Kawaii-Chan, "Sorry about that!"
"Isn't it kind of bad to shut the door on someone's face?" Reese asked as I walked back to my seat.
"Nah, don't worry about it, we're good friends."
"You are?"
"Yeah, we talk a lot."
"So Reese-Senpai-" I cut out what Kawaii-Chan was going to say and tried to fall asleep without being noticed.
