Chapter 6

I was upset the rest of the car ride, but I tried not to talk. I didn't know what to say because I'm dating his brother and I'm falling for him. I'm falling for the wrong guy. He turned up the radio and started singing a little and dancing. He grabbed my hand when we stopped at a red light and made me dance with him. When we finally got back I said...

"Ethan, do you think we can do the project a different day?" I asked him.

"sure, do you need me to drop you off?" He said looking at me confused.

"No its okay ill walk" I said trying to avoid an awkward conversation. I honestly was really upset but I shouldn't be. When I got home it was around 8pm, so I jumped in a shower and watched a movie on netflix.

THE NEXT MORNING

It was Wednesday, I woke up at 7:00am as usual. Today I didn't really feel the best so I just put my hair up in a messy bun and threw on leggings and a crop top. I put on a little mascara and brushed my teeth. My mom took me too school this morning because I didn't want to face either Grayson or Ethan. I was just confused and I didn't know what to think. When I got to school, I was walking in and I saw Grayson and Emma talking to each other again. I just wasn't in a good mood so I kept walking. I don't think they even saw me, which I didn't want them too. I went straight to my locker and guess who was right by it? Ethan. He started walking over...

"Hey Emily, wanna hangout and do the project after school today?" Ethan said pushing his back next to the locker next to me.

"I can't today," I said shutting my locker and walking away. I heard him running after me.

"Umm, are you okay?" Ethan said. I looked at him and cracked a smile

"Yeah I'm fine." I wasn't fine. Im confused and I don't know what to say. The bell rang and  Ethan walked next to me, while we were walking to class. Then I saw Grayson walking towards me.

"Hey baby girl," Grayson said hugging and trying to kiss me. Before he could kiss me on the lips, I turned my head so he kissed my cheek. He gave me this weird look

"Are you okay?" He said grabbing my hands.

"Im fine" I said cracking a small smile. It was so easy to fake a smile...

"Hey class, today we are doing another day of projects!! Get with your partners to work on the project together!!" The teacher said. Why today? I would rather take a test then do the stupid project. Ethan walked over to sit with me, putting his hand on my thigh for a second. He kept trying to talk to me, but I kept giving him short answers. When the bell rang I went straight to second hour without stopping or talking to anyone. After second hour, I decided to leave before lunch started. (yes, lunch was so early in the day, I don't even know why)

I couldn't go home because then my mom would want to know why I was home so early. I decided to go to the red bridge where Ethan and I went. I went to the rock where Ethan said was always good to think about stuff at. I decided to text Emma to tell her where I was going.

emily: Hey Emma, I am going somewhere to think. I have had a lot on my mind so don't worry if I don't show up to lunch!

After that I shut off my phone and just sat there.

ETHANS POV

Today when I saw Emily she was at her locker by herself. I just thought that maybe Emma wasn't here or something because Emily always walks with Emma to her locker. I decided to walk over and see if she wanted to hangout after school again.

"Hey Emily, wanna hangout and do the project after school today?" I said pushing my back agasint the locker.
"I can't today" she says shutting her locker and walking away. I know something's bothering her. Did I do something?
"Um, are you okay?" I asked
"Yeah I'm fine" She said cracking a smile. I know she's not fine. I care about her but I didn't know how to help, so I just walked her to class. Grayson came up to her before class started and tried to kiss her, but she turned. Something was really wrong if Grayson didn't even know. She said she was "fine" again... When we got into class, the teacher was talking to us but I didn't pay attention till I heard "Get with your partners." I went over and sat with Emily, I was being stupid and put my hand on her thigh. I don't want her to think I am some guy who flirts with every girl because I only have one girl on my mind and it was her. Every time I asked a question or talk to her, she would just give me short answers. When the bell rang she got up and walked out of class not even talking to Gray. 

"Hey Gray, whats wrong with her?" 

"I don't really know, maybe she's just tired.. she said she was fine though." Gray said. I don't understand how he thought she was "just tired" or "fine" when she clearly wasn't. 

SKIP TO LUNCH

I walked to lunch looking for Emily, but I couldn't find her anywhere. I saw her friend Emma sitting with someone else so I decided to go up and ask Emma where she was. 

"Hey, do you know where Emily is?" I asked sitting right next to Emily.

"No, She just sent me a text saying that she was going somewhere and not to worry because she just needs time to think. She showed me the text. I was trying to think where she could be... then I got an idea

"Thanks, I just wanted to see where she was so she could work on the project." I said hitting Emma's hand. I got up and went to my car. I can't believe that no one stopped me, but I jumped into my car and pulled away. I drove to the red bridge. I went slowly to the rock, while I was walking I picked a few flowers. I saw her sitting there, on the rock. I sat next to her and handed her the flowers. She just looked over at me for a second without saying a word and looked away. We sat there without talking for about 10 minutes.

"Emily whats wrong?" I said putting my hand on hers.

"I honestly don't know." She said looking down. I saw tears in her eyes. She put her hands over her face and started crying. I grabbed her and hugged her. I didn't know what to say.. theres nothing to say. She was just crying in my arms... when she stopped crying she looked away wiping her tears. 

"Im sorry.." She said getting up. I didn't want her to leave, I wanted her to talk to me. So before she walked away, I grabbed her by the hand and pulled her back. She sat back down. 

"Whats wrong?" I said again, never letting go of her hand.

"I'm just confused." Emily said grabbing my other hand

"confused about what??" 

"Everything." I understood where she was coming from. Im confused too, I guess its just a high school thing. She just put her head on my shoulder. We sat like that for at least an hour.
