One Last Time

Hey guys I know it's been a while and I'm so sorry a bit this one is going to be a bit longer so enjoy.

As I'm walking around Percy's house trying to find him I noticed that he was on the back porch with Gracie and steely. Steely was just sitting there with small tears in her eyes I get close enough to here her say " how long".
Dannie's response was " four months
I'll tell the others tomorrow I Dont want to kill the mood for anyone else to day" he says. " and there's some thing else I'm going to tell you tomorrow to". Jason meets Dannie at the back door and says " hey dude what's up with steely why are she and Gracie crying " I ask. " don't know of tried to ask but she wouldn't tell me" Dannie lies. " OK and hey it's time to cut the cake " I tell Dannie. " OK I'll be there in a minute I'm going to let Steely and Gracie know " Dannie says. " alright " I say and go to let the others know he on his way. When Inger to the dining room I tell them " hey guys he's on his way he getting Gracie and steely" as I say this Dannie, Gracie and steely walk in tithe room. Steely still looks a little upset but when she noticed me looking she hides it with a very convincing smile.

Dannie.
" hey guys it's time To cut the cake ". I tell Gracie and steely . " OK they both say and get up and come in side. As we walk into the dining room Jason had just finished tell them I'd be there in a minute. " hey guys so who's ready for some cake?". I ask and the all say "YES". At the same time and Annabeth and Gracie bring out a giant cake it was the color of my birthstone blue topaz but I had talked to Annabeth be hinder Gracie's back and asked her to Make the in side Ruby red Gracie's birthstone. It had sweet trident owls and lightning bolts around the edges and in the middle it had green vines going to lettering that said Happy Birthday from everyone written in big sea green letters. That must have been Percy's idea. " wow guys it looks great " I say as Gracie lit the big twenty one in the middle of the cake.
And then they started to sing. " Happy Birthday to you Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday dear Dannie, Happy Birthday to you " they all sang and then I blew the candles out. " so are we getting cake or presents first " I ask. " well I guess we can do the presents first " Gracie says with a smile. And they bring in the presents.
The first one I picked out was a large square one with a card on it that said from Cordell. I look around as if it's a bad joke and Jason pipes up and says
" after the car crash we were packing his stuff up at his home and found it with a sticky not on it that read for Dannie's birthday " Jason says. "I see"
Was all I said and then I read the card out loud " it says : to Dannie from Cordell. Hey man Happy Birthday I wish I could have given this to you in person but as of recent events that's not very likely I hope you guys are doing good and I can't wait to see you when I get back from boot camp. I saw this and thought you would like it so Happy Birthday dude from your best friend Cordell.
P.s. if you go to my house there is something under my bed I want you Gracie and steely to have I know you guys will love it". After I read it out loud so everyone can here I can't hold my self together anymore and I just let it out for a while when I calm down I open his gift and bust out laughing with everyone else. It was a twenty four pack of corona beer's. After we laughed To his gift I bust open the box and passed it around everyone grabs one and when we all open our beers I hold mine up and say " to Cordell one of the beat friends I have ever had he was a good man and I considered him my brother and still do it's been hard since his passing but he will never truly be gone we will always have him in our hearts and memories he will be missed. Cordell may you rest in piece". I say and then my eyes start to water a little bit along with everyone else in the room. But before they start crying I say " so who's next". And my mom walks up with a long one shaped like a tube and sets it down on the table and says " this has been passed down from you grand father to your dad and now to you. When your dad passed he whispered to me that I was to give this to you on your twenty first birthday " she says and I get up and hug her. Then I unwrapped it and what I see stuns me for a second. " mom this is dads old ethika twenty two ". I say amazed and smile like an idiot. After all the presents had been open me Gracie and steely drove to Cordell's how's. As we pull up I turned to steely and Gracie and ask " you ready to go in". They shake there heads and we get out we walk up to the door and I put the key in the door and turn it. We walk in and go to his room as we walk up to his bed I noticed a picture of me him and Gracie on the nightstand next Cordell's bed. we were at frontier city next to the wild cat. In it you saw me with Gracie on my back and Cordell tickling her making her laugh like crazy. As I remember that day I start to tear up. I take the picture and then move the bed. Under it was three more pictures each of the same thing.
Me Steely Cordell and Gracie in the band room Steely and Gracie were looking at me and Cordell and laughing at something I don't know what. And then there's me and Cordell acting like complete goofballs like normal. Then I noticed that there was another card. I read it out loud and it said " hey guys if your reading this then I'm already gone I wish I could have seen you one last time I know that it sucks with me being gone but don't worry no good bye is for ever death is a temporary set back we all wet again past the purely white gates of heaven. So unfair till we meet again I'll miss you guys. And as I stop reading I turn my head and almost have a Hart attack right there beside me is my best friend Cordell but he's transparent I say " Gracie look are you guys seeing this". They both say yes and then Cordell says. " yeah I know I as shocked as you are I wasn't expecting this to happen " he says. " and just what is it that happened Cordell " I say. " well I was sent back as a guardian spirit and hey now that I can talk to you have you told them yet ". He says. " yeah I told them and I'll tell the others tomorrow " I tell him. And as we talk he starts to look more and more solid until I reach out and touch him and and make contact for a few seconds my hand goes through his. And that's when I break down. " Cordell what happened! How did your car crash! ". I screamed at him with tears I my eyes" it would take to long to explain I can't stay like this very much longer. So I'll just tell you the jist of it I was very tired and I fell asleep behind the wheel". He says ash he starts to disappear but before he does he says " look in my closet there's something else in there Dannie". And with that he's gone. I walk to I closet and open it to see three more boxes sitting there and yet another card that just read take care of them until the end see you soon bro.
I pick them up to see name on them Dannie, Gracie, and steely. I hand them there's and we open them mine had his knives and his speaker. Gracie's and steely's had diamond necklaces in them. We collect the stuff and head back to my place in silence.
