This chapter was written in Third Person Omniscient for the sake of being able to write the innermost thoughts of the Gods and Goddesses mentioned which will help in later defining their character; with it being written this way, you also got back story on the lycanthropes (though not a lot). If you have any questions on who is thinking what, who knows what, etc. Please leave a comment and I’ll explain. :)  The proceeding chapters will be told strictly from the first person view of Luna, unless stated otherwise.

See the bottom of the story for translations on Greek terms used (in italics with a *).

PROLOGUE

(NO ONE’S POV)

The girl—not a day older than seventeen—stood alone in the forest, her sandy hair was sticking out haphazardly on her head. Her bright blue eyes were round and held fiery determination; her tawny skin broke out in goose flesh as a cool wind caressed her, making her scent waft around.

Turning her head slowly to the side, she took a two short sniffs with her nose. Then, a deeper one as if she could smell something she couldn’t get enough of. She kept turning until she noticed another presence.

                She wasn’t alone anymore.

There. Not even forty feet away from her stood a tall, male figure. He was breathing heavy, his light brown eyes flashed, but stayed trained on her. He had blonde hair, tan skin and a lean build, making the girl’s mouth water and body ignite. The girl’s heart was practically bursting through her ribcage as she met her blue gaze with his brown one.

They closed the distance between their bodies in an intimate embrace. The man’s hands drifted to the small of the girls back while her arms moved up to wrap themselves around his neck.

With his head dropped to the nape of the girl, he whispered in her ear; “Mate.”

The girl let out a content sign before pulling away to place her pink lips against his.

“Child,” a divine voice pulled the young goddess from the mesmerizing scene, “do you not think that is rude?”

The young goddess turned around to see her mother smiling at her whilst she leaned against the doorframe to the Seeing Pool room. Oops! She was caught… once again. But it wasn’t like she could help it! The love of residents of earth—particularly lycanthropes, she had noticed—was so earnest, beautiful and unscripted. There was heartbreak, yes, but when true love prevailed, when soul mates prevailed, love was the most powerful thing.

Call her a hopeless romantic, but the young goddess was in love with the idea of falling in love.

With the realization that she had been lost in her thoughts for some time, the goddess quickly answered her mother, stuttering the entire way with a red face. “I wasn’t! I mean, I was! But it’s not like… Ugh!”

The Goddess laughed at her daughter’s embarrassment. She remembered when she was her age, it seemed like a millennia ago; she had been fascinated with love of earth dwellers as well, but most of all, she was intrigued by the love of the lycanthropes. After the passing of time, she had not lost that interest; that was why she gave the half-wolf half-man creatures soul mates.
