(Mark's P.O.V.)
I went to class a few minutes before the bell rang. "I wonder who the new kid is. Is he/she in my class? Or in any for that matter?" I wanted to let my mind roam free before class started, only to see the principle walk in with someone coming in behind her. Whispers erupted as to who this guy was, now that we can see him.
Many said he used to live here but moved away because of family issues, and an accident. The teacher shushed the class to let the principle talk. "Hello everyone, I'm sure you have all heard about the new student", she said as she waved the boy in, "This is your new classmate, mister Sean William McLaughlin." My heart stopped beating when she said his name. "Is that... no it can't be... He moved to Ireland years ago." "I prefer to be called Jack though." He said shyly. "Oh. My. God. It is him! It's been a long time since I've seen or talked to the guy. He looks way different."
The principle talked to the teacher then left while Jack took the seat right next to me since it was the only one empty. I just sat there thinking about how long it's been since that one night that changed our lives. "I wonder if he remembers me." I didn't notice I was staring until Jack said, "Hello, why are you staring at me?" I quickly snapped out of my trance and spoke up. "I'm sorry it's just been so long since we've seen each other Jackaboy." As soon as I called him by his childhood nickname, that only I call him, his mouth gaped open.
"Mark?" I nodded and was soon embraced by long, warm arms. "Oh my God Markimoo it's been a long time! How have ya been buddy?" "Oh I'm great now that you're here. We have a lot to catch up on." "Yeah a lot. How long has it been, seven years?" "Yup." "Wow that's a lot to catch up on. When do you want to meet up?" "Let's see... what classes are you taking?" Jack gave me his schedule and I compared it to mine to see which classes we share. "Looks like most of the classes are the same except for the fact that you're taking art and I athletics. Those are before lunch so I'll meet you by the gym so we can eat lunch together. How's that sound?" "That sounds awesome!" "Then maybe you can come to my place and we'll hang out." "Okay."
The next few classes went by a bit slow. Jack and I talked a bit whenever we had free time, but not about the last couple of years. We were talking about our memories about each other and all the fun stuff we used to do. We also talked about our futures and what we wanted to do after we graduate, except we didn't really know so we stuck with the other subject.
It was time for me to go to athletics and him to art. I reminded him to meet me by the gym so we could go to lunch together. I could not wait to hear all about him.
