I woke on the couch. Had I fallen asleep? Wait, I didn't dream about anything. I sat up then realising, that I was solely in my underwear. I looked around and spotting my clothes folded on a chair. I got up and treaded over to it, putting it on. What happened? Where's Max? I went into the next room. Empty.
I walked over to the table. There was a plate... And an omelette. Underneath the ceramic plate poked a piece of paper which I immediately noticed and took out,
'Alex, don't worry I'm fine. I just need to take care of something, help yourself to anything and stay inside.
Sorry for having to leave suddenly, but there's something I need to do. I'll be back in the evening, don't miss me too much.
I love you.
-Max'
I was suspicious but I shrugged it off. I did the opposite of what he asked. I was worried.
The omelette was warm and fresh, meaning, he left not too long ago. As I devoured the thing I was craving all day, all I could think about was Max and the fact that it was the first time in a long time that I hadn't had a dream. And then my thoughts reverted back to last night. Oh god. Did we...?
My mind rewound to last night and I sighed with relief. No... well yes... But...not exactly.
I got up and carried my plate over to the sink and turned the tap on. Every time I watched the water gush out, it amazed me each time.
I walked back to the couch and lay there, legs crossed on the arm of it and head lying on the other. I thought of Max. How good he looked, how good he made me feel, his kiss on my lips, his calming voice, his effortless seducing tone which always seemed to make me weak. Oh god. What did I get myself into. I couldn't help it. I loved him. And he was all mine.
Hours passed, and flicking through the pages of old history books started to bore me. That's all he had. History books. I placed the book on the floor below me and stretched out onto the couch, letting a yawn escape me simultaneously. It was seven- thirty- two and Max still wasn't back. The hideout didn't have a bed, just this couch, which I found strange considering the fact that Craig supplied them with everything. I lay on my side, and shut my eyes, but couldn't persuade my body to sleep. I sat up again. I was nervous and as soon as I was about to get up and head to the bathroom to wash my face, the door opened and Max walked in, followed by Wilson who immediately reacted by rubbing himself against me.
"Oh my god! Where did you find him?" I say caressing his neck.
"When I was on my way," He replied taking off the satchel that was slung across his chest.
"Where did you go?"
"Oh, just to check on something,"
"what?"
"Nothing, it's nothing, don't worry about it," He said kissing my forehead softly,
"Just tell me!" I said awaiting the answer I wanted,
"You'll see soon enough"
"Okay, shower me with suspense, I see how it is"
"Can I shower you with kisses instead?" He asked, knowing exactly how to play me,
I grinned coyly, "Don't change the subject"
I heard muffled groans in between the kisses he planted on my shoulder, "You taste good,"
I didn't say anything, I just simply snuck my hands up the front of his shirt, feeling his heart beat on my fingertips.
"Why do you have so many history books?" I asked slowing down.
"I don't know. They're just books I found. Craig doesn't supply us with entertainment so I had to scavenge for them. The only books I found were these, in an old apartment somewhere near where you live. The others were either burnt or perished and these were the only books I could find in this sad place we call Manhattan"
" I've noticed. The only book I had was a book on architecture,"
"My guess is that since we didn't use hard copy books so often, everything went electrical, and all the history books remained because they needed to keep some real evidence of what people used to read back in the day,"
"Makes sense," By now, we were sitting on the couch. I sat on his lap facing him, his hands were lying on my thighs.
"What now?" I asked fondling with his hair,
"Whatever you want to do"
"I wanna do something fun,"
"I have Monopoly?"
