Within an instant, the room fell dark, then light again, then swallowed in black for another round.

The fingers of the darkness wrapped around Sky's eyes, her eyelashes feeling like they were squishing against them. Even though they were completely open, nothing was worse than having eyes open, and have nothing there but utter darkness.

Everyone is afraid of the dark.

The mere thought of terrified Sky. It clutched her shaken arms tightly like stairway railings, refusing to let go.

The flickering lights repeated itself again. Each time the light flickered, a figure would be standing in the doorway.

It took one step forward. She took one back.

She frantically mixed the potions she gathered once before. Clinking glass was the only sound louder than her heavy terror filled breathing she tried to keep down. The colors sizzled and exposed its bright colors to her desperate eyes, the blues and greens becoming most fond to look at.

When she finally mixed the potion together she held it with satisfaction, staring at it with disbelief that she actually did it with the limited time she had. She threw her head backward and allowed the liquid to pour down her throat. The foamy substance scorched the skin of her throat like a match on paper. All she could do was wait to see if the liquid holding her life would work.

The dark object drew closer to her. Within each fast step it laid out onto the wooden floor, her heart beaded at the same speed. When she looked up to face it the only thing she could see was its piercing blue eyes, digging deep within hers, almost draining out her own color.

"Sky." A manly voice murmured. Lucas.

"Get away from me Lucas!" She beefed, swatting the darkness multiple times, hoping with each estimated whack she would hit him. But she felt him come closer to her. And her missing with every hit didn't settle well in her stomach.

Suddenly, the room soon filed with light from the moon hanging above their heads. They were outside. How, Sky had no idea.

"What is this?" Lucas questioned, pointing at the mix of scattered glass bottles on the floor.

The burning in Sky's throat soon became unbearable. She scoffed a few times and grunted to try and simmer it, but it didn't work. She couldn't speak, each time she tried her mouth spat out dragons breath, and her eyes watered like crazy.

He backed up when the fire almost licked his skin. "What did you do?" He demanded, trying to find proof of the potion he didn't want her to make.

"You know what I did."

"No, you soiled the other potion!"

"I did what?"

Sky watched Lucas's hands clench into hard meaty fists, then bloom outward, then back in, almost like a reverse winter. "The potion, you were suppose to die, then come back loving m-"

Her heart stopped for a moment. "What?"

He paced back and forth. Gripping his dark maroon hair in his fingers. "I couldn't do it- I wasn't strong enough to cast the spell." There was more and more pacing, and more frantic worrying. "Maybe the potion and spell couldn't work, maybe I did it wrong, no it couldn't be, can it?"
