Life is good when all you have to worry about is what time you get to the beach. Just hanging out, going with the flow, but sometimes it gets boring. The beach is the exact same every time you go, the only thing that changes are the people and the weather. After only a week of living here I was already tired of watching the waves roll up on the shore.
"Otis please come with me! Its the beach, hot chicks and cold beers what more could you ask for?" Oliver said bouncing on my bed.
"Excitement Ollie. Im tired of it already." I said rubbing my eyes. The illuminated green lights read 11:29.
"How about we go get lunch then maybe go to the beach if I'm feeling up for it." I mumbled in defeat. His face lit up knowing he had won the argument and we where going to the beach. Of the two of us he was the more childish one and technically I was younger by an hour. Getting up following my usual routine took about 20 minutes.
I dressed in dark blue solid swim trunks, a white and blue striped shirt. Fumbling with the strings on my grey Vans Oliver walked in dressed in bright printed trunks and a plain white shirt. "Ready?" He said grabbing my jeep keys. I nodded and snatched my keys from him leading us down the stairs.
The top was already off of my black jeep so we just climbed inside and headed off towards Surf City. The five minute drive was short and sweet other than Oliver hollering at some girls it was nice. I decided we eat at my favorite restaurant the Corner Deli. After about ten minutes me and Oliver sat by the window devouring subs and soda.
Before going on the beach me and Ollie decided to hang out with some local surfers be met, we basically just sat under the gazebo that people used to get onto the beach. Since the gazebo was attached to a little restaurant waitresses lingered around the guys just hanging out bringing us beers and sodas. My favorite surfer we met was Teagan.(pronounced Tea-gn) He had wild blonde curls and dark skin a typical surfer type. He was just really chill and worked at the Italian Ice bar just across the street. He told awesome stories about surfing in Hawaii and Florida and meeting all different people. To be my age he sure had lived.
"You guys coming to the party tonight?" One of the guys named Kenny said.
"Yea its only for the local teenagers, you guys should come" Teagan said to Oliver and me. We both nodded in agreement. I was excited for the change and new experiences tonight would bring. Teagan promised to pick us up at ten tonight because the location was hard to get to and we still didn't know the island well. After hours of football on the beach the sun started setting and Oliver drove us home. A nap and shower was well needed so thats exactly what I did.
I woke up to mom gently shaking my shoulder. We sat and talked for a little while until dad called for her and she left. I went in Oliver's room to see what he was wearing tonight. He wore some Hawaiian printed, light blue and white shorts along with a white tee shirt and white vans. So I decided to wear some kaki colored shorts and a blue button up with my favorite grey vans. I pushed a diamond earring in my ear and pushed the back end of it on securing it to my lobe. I only got an earring so people could tell me and Oliver apart. I threw on a white braided bracelet from Waves and went downstairs with Ollie to wait for Teagan. While waiting I lit up a cigarette blowing the smoke to the side, careful to keep the ashes away from my shoes. Teagan pulled up in a shiny black Ford truck pulling a trailer with a white and red Yamaha jet boat. Loading up in the truck I sat in the back with some guys and Ollie sat upfront with Teagan.
Teagan drove us through Surf City and we all helped load the boat in the water. "Dude where is this party?" Ollie asked Teagan. "Its off on an Island so no imports or the cops can come in and crash the party." Kenny said. We all loaded up and where off. I enjoyed the wind rushing around me and the feeling of flying through the dark open water.
