Friends

Chapter 2

It was a cold night in the town of Eavanston. Usually it's pretty mild out here but couldn't figure out why the weather had changed from mild to cold. Anyways, I received a text message from Tom saying he'd want to hangout. Pretty weird since it's a school night and it's pretty cold. Being the "friend" I am, I decided to go hangout because I was pretty bored at home too.

I looked at my mom who was sitting on the couch watching t.v. "Hey mom. Do you mind if I go over to Tom's for a second? It'll be pretty quick," I said in exaggeration.

She looked hesitated and decided to just nod her head because she was focused on the t.v show "Friends". I got ready and didn't dress fancy. Some slacks and a black t-shirt will do I suggest.

As I left to leave the house, mom stops me and asks me "What time will you come home? It's a school night isn't it?"

I replied with a small nod and said "I'll be safe, just watch your t.v show. I'll be home before 11". I looked at my watch also, and saw it was only 8:30.

"Okay dear, have fun and DON'T drink. Love you!" mom says.

I nodded and headed through the garage where my small Toyota car was tucked in. I drove out the driveway onto the big pavement road throughout my neighborhood. Tom didn't live really far, it was just a couple of streets from where I lived at and it was pretty convenient since we hang out almost everyday. I drove pass Maple lane, just one street ahead of Lexington lane where Tom lives at until I heard a loud bang from the sky.

I looked up into the sky and thought "Fuck, I'm gonna get wet sooner or later". I went up Lexington lane and drove a good 30 seconds to where I see Tom's house. The Primry's household was pretty huge. It held about 5 bedrooms as well as each having their own bathrooms. Compared to my house, it's about 5 times bigger. Tom's family is pretty huge too. He has 3 brothers named Zach, Isaiah, and Trent. He also has 2 sisters named Katie and Maddie. Surprisingly, Tom's the oldest followed by Katie, Trent, Zach, Maddie, and Isaiah.

I reached the door and banged loudly since the whole family knows my mildness and kindness. Katie opens the door and asks " What're you doing here? It just started raining. Come inside!"

I explained to her about Tom wanting to hangout and she leads me to the kitchen to where the whole family is at right now. We walk pass the staircase and through the small hallway and they're all just sitting in an oval around the kitchen Island.

"I hope I wasn't intruding into something" I shouted. They all looked up to me in surprise and I hear Trent shout that they're just gossiping about family matters. I looked up to the Primry's in confusion and Tom goes ahead and drags me upstairs.

We reach his room and he shuts the door behind me. "What was going on?" I asked impatiently.

He looks at me startled and says "One of my family members from Florida has passed away and that the inheritance isn't being shared properly so we were just having a conversation on that."

"Good..because I thought I came in at the wrong time, thanks for notifying me" I said.

He nods and looks at me shoes and jacket, "Why are you wet? Was it raining? Or did you get jet sprayed from the sprinklers?"

I laugh hysterically and told him it was just the rain. He starts giggling and he walks to his bathroom to get a towel.

I've been in his room more than a billion times and it feels different this time I walk in. I feel a presence that I've never felt before. I start to question so many things but maybe I'm just being stupid. Now I wasn't, I feel different some reason.
