"Visitor for Jamie," the lady in the police uniform called. God she looks hideous in that.
Then again, I look down at my sweatshirt and sweats and stay quiet.
"Place all your items in the basket," she said. "I need your shoes."
"My shoes?" I asked, confused. What the fuck.
"Yes." she answered. I took my shoes off and placed them in the small basket. "You have anything in your pockets?"
I took my phone and wallet out of my right pocket and my keys out of my left pocket and placed all three items in the basket.
"Ok, step back for me."
I took a step back.
"Pull your pants up."
I pulled my pants up, a little confused.
"Ok, you can walk out to the deck now." she said.
Ohh, it's called a deck?
I exit that room and I see a metal fence bordering every inch of this place. The fence slides open and I walk to the visiting cell thing. I don't know what it's called.
"Mum.."
She looks different. Her face is thinner and paler. Her hair, which is usually in a neat ponytail, is just messy tangled up waves. I think you can consider them waves.
"Hi, Jo." my mom gave me a smile. "Did you get it? The letter?"
I nodded and her smile grew.
Silence... Awkward silence...
"How's Lester?" she asked. Lester is my uncle. He works in a tattoo shop, where I got most of my tats done.
"He's ok, I guess. He's helping me up back in the studio." I informed her.
"Right, your studio. How's the music coming along?" she asked.
"Good. Zayn's helping me with the beats. " I smiled.
"He's back?" she asked. I nodded and her smile was back.
"How about Laura? How's is she?" Laura is my 17 year old sister. The pretty one.
"She's good too. I want her to go to college and not get knocked up." I chuckled.
"We'll see how that turns out." she laughs. I miss her laughs... and her chicken soup.
Her laugh dies and she sits up straight.
"Did you get Hugo?" she asked. Shit.
"Mom, I'm doing the best I can, but-"
"How many fucking times did I tell you how fucking hard it is to live here?" she yells.
I'm done with her bullshit. I get up and turn around, ready to leave this shit place.
"Jo.. I'm sorry. Come here." she said. I turn back around and sit down.
"I need you to get Hugo. It's important. Give him the orange paper that was in the letter I sent you."
"There was no orange paper." I sighed.
"Yes there was." she snapped.
"Fine," I huffed.
With that, she got up and left.
