Enjoy!

Hey, where have you been?", my brother West asked as I opened the sliding back door. He had the radio playing 'Super Bass' by Nicki Minaj up full blast. He has an obsession with her and it cracks me up.
"Surfing. The waves are so amazing today.", I responded, grabbing a glass of water and chugging it.
"Oh, well you know I don't surf anymore.", he responded. West was probably the most stubborn person I have ever known. He won’t get back in the water because he lost sectionals last month, and he’s been sulking about it ever since. I can’t go a day without him whining about it.
"West, you really need to go out there and try it again. Surfing made you so happy.", I said while pulling my long beach blonde hair in a ponytail.
“No, I’m done surfing.”, he said, running his hand through his light blonde hair.
"Whatever. Did mom say we could start dinner?", I asked, opening a window, revealing the sunny beach.
"No she said she's bring home something from the diner.", he replied.
Our family had a diner across the street from the beach. Pretty much just Florida touristy stuff. West and I worked there on weekends and so did my best friend, Tayler. We had been surfing for the past seven years competitevly, and we've made nationals. We were the best surfers around here. Well, besides my dad. But he moved Alabama to promote some country-western label and never writes anymore.
I hoisted myself up on the counter and looked out at the beach. The waves were splashing, people were surfing and kids were laughing and playing. I checked the clock above the counter. 7:30. Damn.
"Hey, West?", I asked, jumping down from the counter and grabbing my flip flops. You had to wear some kind of feet protection while walking close to the tide. All of the seashells hurt, I learned that the hard way.
"Yeah?", he asked.
"I'm supposed to go night surfing with Tayler.", I asked, already opening the sliding glass back door.
"Be back by dinner."
***
"That is always such a GREAT rush, Fal.", Tayler exlaimed, ringing out her wet brown hair with her hands.
Tayler had surfed at least two tubes that night (I was jealous, I got none), and we were walking back to my beach house.
"I bet."
"So, I guess I'll see you tommorrow at school?", she asked as we stopped at my back door. I layed my board against the side of the house.
"Sure.", I replied. I hugged her and she walked to her house next door.
I opened the back door to see West and my mother sitting down at the dinner table. West was shirtless, I swear he doesn't own a shirt. And my mother was still in her diner uniform.
"Hi, sweetie. Have a seat.", my mom said.
I nodded and sat down. I started digging into my salad.
"How was today?", she asked, her blue eyes sparkling. I swear, our whole family has piercing blue eyes. Me and West are twins, but it still blows my mind.
"It was fine.", I replied, taking a drink of water.
"What did you do?"
"Surfed.”
"Did West surf too?", she asked.
I sat down my water glass with a thud.
"Hell no, mom. West won't even get near the tide."
West just looked at his plate.
"Excited for the first day of junior year?", my mom asked, ignoring the comment.
"Nope.", me and West both replied.
West and I went to Braestone Coast Private School. It was off the coast, right next to the beach. The place was really technology savvy, and they had a really good fine arts program. We wore uniforms, but the girl roll there skirts up to practically their bums. The only thing that keeps me from not running out of that hell hole is the advantages of being in Advanced Placement classes: you get to go out on the beach after you finish your classes. It's really fun, but I'm ready to get out of there. Two more years to go.
"Well, that was the answer I was probably expecting," my mom said, getting up to clean the dishes.
I saw West drop a piece of pasta on his chest and pick it right back up and eat it.
"Ew.. just.. ew. When was the last time you even showered?", I asked him.
"Um.. I don't know.. three days ago? Why does it appeal to you?", he asked, his mouth full of disgusting, chewed up pasta.
I gagged. This was going to be the longest year ever.
