Boredom is a concept, a state of mind. Sometimes, it doesn't go away immediately. You feel trapped, like you can't feel joy in anything. You want to do something, anything, to avoid the real world. Nothing comes to mind on what you could possibly do to help feel that way. What are you supposed to do? Nothing seems interesting. You don't want to read, you don't want to eat, you don't even want to sleep. So you just sit there waiting, not sure what for. You fall into the trap of going online, scrolling and scrolling endlessly for hours on end, but to no avail. You're still not content with your current state. You want to go somewhere, but at the same time you don't in fear of boring whoever you're with.

You talk to a friend. They ask you what you want to do, but you don't have an answer. You say you have no idea. They give suggestions, but nothing grasps your attention. You're stuck. There's nothing that could possibly help you feel better, it seems like. What do you do?
You might feel useless, but it's like being a lightbulb hanging in an empty room. You constantly sit there, wanting to move, but you can't. Yet, you have purpose. You keep the room from being dark and dreary. You can be in the presence of someone else and still be silent. That someone else is content and happy just to be in the same room as you.
That feeling of being useless and empty isn't a weird thing. It happens to a lot of people. It doesn't make you crazy.
Sometimes, you just need to escape reality every now and then.
