Chapter 2
It was the next morning and she still couldnt get the damned potion out of her mind. Today was another day at the Ministry, but she would have to report the chosen new interns to Luna. That morning Luna called in from the airport saying she and Neville would be arriving in just a few hours.
"We'd apparate, but Neville insisted on flying. He'd grown rather fond of airplanes you know, since he couldnt stand riding on broomsticks but loves flying. We also havent worked on side apparating to be honest, we still get sick after," Luna called. Hermione smiled at her friend's soft, small voice against the phone.
"It's alright, I'm not on a rush," Hermione answered as she started to wear her heels.
"Dont worry, I'll go straight to the Department once we get home and unpack," Luna said.
"No, you must be tired! It's a long flight!" Hermione argued.
"Nonsense!" Luna said, "Neville would be going straight to the Herbology Lab at St. Mungo's after, I could handle going back to work too!"
Hermione snickered lightly and said okay to Luna. She knew there was no point at arguing. How could you even stop someone so cute and perky?
"I'll be in my office by then, just ring me when you get back, I'll give the reports to you personally," Hermione said. Last night, amidst all the Draco madness, she managed to choose two new interns for the department. Daisy Holler and Marcus Veila, both fifth years from Hogwarts.
"Oh, you've already chosen among them? That's great!" Luna beamed.
Hermione stood up from the bed and started to prepare her bag. "I'm sorry I thought I had to do the choosing too!"
"Oh Hermione, surely you know that just means one less work for me to do! I should thank you!"
"But what if you preferred others?" Hermione still insisted.
"Hey, I trust your judgement. You're better than me at Potions back at Hogwarts, next to Draco you were the best!"
Hermione's face froze at the mention of Draco's name. She wanted to ask more about him to Luna, but she saw the time on her watch and decided against it.
Luna sensed something as Hermione's voice stiffened on the other line. She knew it was because of Draco.
"Well, I better get going Luna. The office awaits," Hermione said.
"Okay! Our flight would be in ten minutes I'd better go too," Luna answered, deciding to let just the moment pass.
"Say hi to Neville for me," she finally said and they said their goodbyes.
Once she put her phone back in her bag she had a glimpse of the potion by her table. She didnt know why but she kept it in her bag too before going to work, anxious that somebody might know.
At the Ministry of Magic...
Draco arrived at the Ministry of Magic around six in the morning, striding fast towards the auror's wing of the building. Being one of the most important department in the Ministry they had their own wing, complete with training grounds and an enormous flying ward.
There were also common rooms for each auror team just like common rooms back in Hogwarts only wider and more identical with one another. Draco smirked at how military-like the auror wing was.
Once he entered he noticed some of his team were already in. He went straight to the flying ward hoping to set up some Quidditch rings and shoot in a few goals. He desperately wanted to fly after the madness that happened yesterday. He owled his friend, Blaise Zabini, earlier who worked as a Quidditch coach at Durmstrang, hoping he'd had spare time to play. But when he got there he saw Harry and Ron were already playing.
