The next day I found my friends by there lockers. They looked super burned out and tired.

"Hey. You guys all right?"I asked.

"yeah; just tired," said Jackson.

"Were'd you go?"

There was a silence as they traded glances.

"Come on guys," I complained,"You have to tell me sometime."

"All right," said Jackson,"At lunch."

Lunch came. I meet they guys at a table nearest to the door.

"Are you going to tell me now?" I asked.

"Na, You have ta prove yourself man," said Liam.

"What do I have to do?"

"Ask her out," said Jackson," She doesn't have to say yes."

I looked were he was pointing. On the table across us Ava was laughing about something her friend said. She seemed prettier than ever.

"You don't have to if you don't want to," said Locus.

"I'll do it," I said quickly getting off the seat. I started walking toward her.  She was reading again. I couldn't think of anything to say to her. I  hesitated almost right behind her. She didn't look up.

"Do you need something?" asked the friend that was sitting in front of her.

"Uh..." I stuttered.

The friend, noting that I was staring at Ava, nudged her.

Ava looked up and asked"what?"

"He wants to talk to you" The friend said.

Ava turned towards me.

"Yes?"

"Will you go out with me? As in like... on a date?"

Ava smiled as she looked at me. She batted her eyes flirtatiously and sweetly said, "No."

"Um, okay then." hesitantly I left, unsure exactly what happened I only thought about how pretty her eyes were.
