Chapter 2

thanks for the feedback on the first chapter! glad you guys are liking it so much! just for an fyi i think i will now start updating only on the weekends just so the story will last longer this time, as of right now i'm not sure how many chapters there will be, i probably won't until i get towards the end, anyway, here is chapter 2! enjoy!

*Rydel's p.o.v*

Mom raises her eyebrows.

“Well, honey that's great news isn't it?” she asks.

“Well, yea.” I reply.

“What's the problem sweetie?” she asks.

“I just don't know if I’m..ready, to be a wife, you know what I mean?” I ask.

“I felt the same way the night your father asked me to marry him.” she replies.

“but you said yes didn't you?” I ask.

“Of course I did, and honey, if you're not ready, all you have to do is tell him, I'm sure he would understand and I’m so sure he would wait on you.” she replies.

I think about that for a minute, I remembered how much it hurt me to wait for him when he was still dating Kelly, and I really didn't want to put him through that same kind of pain.

“Well honey?” mom asked me, rubbing my shoulder.

“I'm going to say yes, I don't want to put him through the pain of waiting on me like I was when I was waiting for him.” I reply.

“Now honey just remember, you're under no pressure to say yes, if you're ready then of course you should say yes, but if you don't think you're ready, then don't, and tell him how you feel, he'll understand.” she replies.

I nod my head.

“Thanks mom.” I reply.

“Anytime honey.” she replies.

I go say goodbye to dad and get my purse to go back home.

*Ratliff's p.o.v*

I went to the jewelery store to pick out an engagement ring for Rydel, if it was any other girl I’d think I was maybe moving a little too fast, but me and Rydel were obviously very happy together, and all I knew was I wanted her to be with me for the rest of my life.

I entered the jewelery store, the clerk greeting me cheerfully

“May I help you?” he asks.

Since I had no idea where to start I decided some help would be good.

“I'm looking for an engagement ring, any price.” I reply.

“Ah, ok well if you'll follow me over here, this display here has some of our best and most popular engagement ring styles.” the man replies walking me over to a display case full of sparkling rings.

I looked up and down the rows trying to find something special, honestly, they all looked the same to me, but I needed something special, no ordinary ring would do, because Rydel was no ordinary girl.

“Do you maybe have anything different?” I ask.

“Sure, sure, if you'll follow me over here, we have a few more choices for engagement rings.” he replies, taking me to another display case.

I looked through the rows carefully, looking over each one in detail

when finally something caught my eyes.

It was a beautiful silver ring with a sparkling pink diamond about the size of a small marble.

I knew instantly it was perfect.
