I can't believe he actually did that.

Drop everything, John was actually a really genuine guy. Not that I didn't know that before, by now is just exemplifying the fact. He just look a bullet for me and my dad, a really big bullet. He could've just nodded and gone along with his boss, the boss who could be his boss for ten more years. He could've agreed with his best friend, but he didn't, he agreed with me, someone who had never done anything for him.

Ratcliffe's eyes grew wide.

"Sir," One of the policemen interjected. "to me, it sounds like you're the one guilty of foul play."

"I'm telling the truth!" He shouted like a little baby. "This place should be shut down! It hasn't been inspected by the health office in years, it hasn't-"

"Shut up old man." John grumbled. Everyone turned and stared at him, even my dad who was smiling. "We all know that you're the one paying underage workers without papers less than minimum wage."

Thomas turned with wide eyes. "You're paying us under minimum wage?" Keep up, Thomas.

"I... I..." He looked around, sweat dripping from his forehead.

"Yeah," One of his massive bodyguards muttered. "I'm sick and tired of getting underpaid and disrespected. I quit." He spat, taking off his cheap sunglasses and shoving them in Ratcliffe's hands.

"Me too." Another grumbled, leaving.

The three remaining left, until there was nobody but him and Thomas left.

Suddenly, Thomas burst into sobs.

"Please don't arrest me! He made me say that stuff but it's not true! Don't arrest John either! Please, this place is the furthest thing from foul play-"

The officer rolled his eyes. "We get it, kid, and you're fine. Go buy yourself an ice cream or something while we... Discuss this with your boss." He cracked his neck, eyes narrowed to slits.

Thomas scurried out, looking at John one last time before leaving.

My heart pounded in my chest, waiting for something else to happen, not really wanting anything to in case it went terribly wrong.

"Ok," One of the officer's sighed. "this was the strangest call I've had all day, but it seems like you folks can handle it from here. Have a nice night." With that, they left, leaving me in shock at what just happened.

"John," My dad stepped up to him timidly. "you deserve more respect than I have given you. I can't believe that you actually went against your boss like that."

John shrugged, looking over at me. "It was what I had to do."

I smiled at him, his invitation to come over and wrap his enormous arms around me.

"I love you." He whispered.

"I love you too." I whispered back, squeezing him tighter.

"Listen, I'll respect you and everything," I heard my dad say close to us, his lips almost brushing against our touching cheeks, ruining our moment. "but don't get all handsy with my daughter, at least not in front of me."

"Dad!" I exclaimed, pulling away.

He chuckled, putting a hand on both of our backs. "Just doing my job."

I smiled, kissing him on the cheek. "Thanks."

He winked at me. "Now, I'm going to go and try to erase the image of a boy touching my daughter out of my mind."

John and I both laughed as he went back into the kitchen.

Once he was gone, he looked back down at me smiling. "Now that he left," He muttered, fingers caressing my lower back. "I can finally do this."

My heart leapt into my throat as his lips collided with mine, fitting into their spot in my mouth.

"Seriously though," I pulled away quickly, making him furrow his eyebrows. "why did you do that?"

He pushed a hair behind my ear. "Because I love you more than I love Ratcliffe's cruddy hotels." He chuckled.

"John, you could've lost your job. You could've lost your house."

"My underpaying job and motel room. Sounds like a big hit."

"But-"

"It doesn't matter," He leaned down and pressed his lips to my neck, then the corner of my lips. "I probably lost my job anyway."

"You're making me feel guilty." I murmured, tipping my head back. "Come on, I've had enough for one day..." My words were lost as his lips dragged up the front of my neck.

"Sure about that?" His voice vibrated against my skin.

I smiled and looked down at him. "No." I murmured in defeat.

"Good." He took in a deep breath, kissing up my jaw, making me shiver. "So stop talking and let me kiss you."

That I did, with pleasure.

Willow was right, some things you just had to let work out by themselves.
