March 22nd
I woke up to find Trevor, not at my side. I heard movement downstairs. I figured it was him. I got out of bed, fixed up my french braid, and headed downstairs.
"Hayden," I say entering the kitchen and only finding Hayden.
"What?" he replies.
"Where's Trevor?" I ask.
"I don't know, I thought he was still with you."
"No," I say finding my phone.
"Sorry, princess. Had to leave early. I forgot that I had to meet my family for breakfast. I'll make it up to you, I promise."
"He's not here," I tell Hayden as I put my phone on the counter.
"Why?" he asks as though no answer is going to be good enough.
"I guess he had a family breakfast," I say sighing.
"Mmmhmm," he says rolling his eyes.
"What's the suppose to mean?" I ask.
"I've been up since 6, and I didn't see him leave. So why would he leave for a family breakfast at 6 am?"
I stayed silent.
"Exactly," he said.
"Grab whatever you need. Me and you, are going out for breakfast, and then we're going shopping," I tell him as I'm leaving the room.
I got upstairs, straightened my hair, found a pair of leggings and a white shirt, a gray cardigan, a blue plaid blanket scarf, and a pair of tall brown boots. I went for a bold, yet comfy makeup. I put in some hoop earrings and hoped to god that they wouldn't get caught in my hair.
"I'll be out in the car!" I yelled to Hayden.
I walked out of the house, unlocked my car, got in, and started it up. It took Hayden 10 minutes longer than me to get ready. This kid may have some problems when he gets older.
It was a 30-minute drive from our house to Perkins. Once we got there, I ordered scrambled eggs and waffles with sausage and orange juice. Hayden got biscuits and gravy with milk.
"So Hayden, got a girlfriend yet?" I asked trying to spark up a conversation.
"Why is everyone asking me this question?" he asked kind of frustrated.
"It's a typical question to ask. If you hate the question, better stop showing up to family events."
"Whatever. No, I don't have a girlfriend. I'm only 15."
"You're a year younger than me."
"So?"
"I have a boyfriend."
"Yeah, one that left before 6 am this morning."
"Shut up."
"Do you love him?"
"Yeah."
"Does he love you?"
"He says he does.."
"You don't believe him?"
"I don't know after this morning. Nothing happened between us last night that would cause him to leave in the morning."
"Who knows when he left. Maybe he left right after you fell asleep."
"Not helping Hayden."
"Sorry."
"Let's go."
"Right behind you."
We left and headed towards the mall. My conversation with Hayden got me thinking about last night. Why would he leave? When did he leave? Is what Trevor said, true?
We got to the mall. Hayden got $200 from mom, which he split with me, under mom's orders. The first place we went was Scheels. I needed new sweatpants and sweatshirts. I'm not sure what Hayden all needed, but that was his problem. I got my stuff before he did so I walked out and sat on a bench waiting for him. I was scrolling through my Facebook news feed when I heard a really loud and obnoxious laugh. I looked up to find Miranda Parks with...my boyfriend?
"What the hell?" I hear Hayden say as he walks up to me.
"Correction; what the actual fuck?" I say as I get up.
I dialed Trevor's number. I watched him. He took his phone out of his pocket, sent me to voicemail, and shoved his phone back into his pocket. I dialed again. Only this time, he answered.
"Hey"
"Where are you?"
"At the breakfast with my family why?"
"Because being with Miranda Parks in the mall doesn't seem like a family breakfast."
"Where are you?"
"Does it matter?"
"Yes."
"And why is that?"
"Because it's not what it looks like."
"Not what it looks like my ass."
"Please Dylan."
"Tell me. What are you doing with Miranda in the mall?"
"First of all, she's my cousin. Second, of all, my mom sent us here because Miranda needed a new shirt because she spilled her food on herself."
"What time did you leave this morning?"
"Around 6. Why?"
"Hayden said he didn't see you leave."
"He was still sleeping when I left."
"Why did you leave so early?"
"So I could shower. Did you get the note I left on your bed?"
"Note? Bed? Nope."
"That's the problem. The note explained why I left early. It also said that I love you, Dylan. And I would never do anything to hurt you."
"Well, I love you too. Hayden and I are shopping at the moment so I'll call you when I get home."
"All right. Talk to you later princess."
I sighed and stood up.
"I'm ready if you're ready."
"Alright. Let's go."
