Two years had passed since I came upon Estella at that run-down, dreary house. We spent the rest of that day together, reminiscing and talking about old times. It was intriguing to think about a future with her, but she was heading back to England and I planned to stay here. To spare each other's feelings, we decided to remain friends. The next time I saw Estella was at my dear friend Magwitch's funeral. It was a melancholy ceremony and Estella stayed by my side the entire time. I had given up all hope of ever being with her, but I couldn't bring myself to love anyone else. Towards the end of the ceremony, I dodged Estella and headed to the bar where I had a bit too much to drink. Estella found me later that night and took me home. She helped clean me up and she made me something to eat. I was exhausted and when she tried to leave I begged her to stay. After much grievance, she agreed. She stayed by my side until I fell asleep and then went to bed in my spare bedroom. The week following the funeral we were inseparable. We spent months upon months together. Finally, I got up the courage to propose to her. She said yes and we were married the next month. It was a small wedding with only our closest friends and family. That was the most magical evening I had ever had.

We are now approaching our 5 year anniversary. They have been the happiest years of my life. We now have two kids together, one boy and one girl. Our son's name is Abel Pirrup, who is now 4, and our 11 month old daughter's name is Molly. Herbert and I are partners in our business, which is flourishing. Life couldn't be better. Sometimes I wonder if my life would've been different if I hadn't met that convict on the marshes that eventful morning when I was but a boy. When I find myself thinking that, I try to remind myself that everything happens for a reason and I remember stay thankful for what I have. Estella has been with me for the majority of my life and I contribute most of my accomplishments to her. If she ever finds this journal that I have kept of my life, I hope she knows I couldn't have done any of it without her. Thank you Estella for remaining by my side, I hope to stay together forever. I love you with all my heart, Phillip Pirrup.
