You grunted, your form splayed out on the floor. You were clad in a black almost leather suit just like Natasha it was side tracking uniform that came with the job as an agent of SHIELD.
You had been laying on the floor for a while now, your spine severed, it had all happened because you weren't paying attention your thoughts on something else, or should I say someone else.
A month ago you had finally been introduced to the latest member of the Avengers. Bucky, or James as he made you call him.
He seemed close to Steve, well close was putting it vaguely, they were best friends, they grew up together. While he and Steve got along great he barely tolerated any of the other Avengers and seemed to be so put off by you.
You sighed again, not being able to move your legs or even want to move from the pain scorching your nerve endings.
You weren't to worried about your energy or the fact that you weren't able to move your legs, once you were found and your spine realigned you would heal and be able to walk again.
But back to the main part, your brain was a scatter since you had been laying on the floor for a while, a few dead bodies around you.
You had been sent on a recon mission, get some scientist that had the brain power to kill the whole world out of the hands of Hydra. No big deal simple work.
But no, you partner on this mission, James 'Bucky' Barnes, had decided that he didn't need you and strayed from the plan that had been devised.
You somehow knew he would do this, you kind of felt it in your gut, which helped you out of some extreme situations. You had merely sighed and went about the plans and actually got the scientist out yourself without actually killing anyone.
It was during that time when you were loading the scientist up that you received more oders since James had not reported back since departing. You had to find him and bring him back before things went south and he was on the other team again.
You knew he was a big boy, and almost let it slip from your tongue that he could handle himself, but the look sent to you by your handler nipped it into the bud before it even left your mouth.
You merely sighed again and did as told.
That brought you here. After getting in again and following a trail of chaos as far as you could you were intercepted by a group of Hydra agents.
They fell pretty easily and you questioned if they even received proper training but brushed it off as you took down what you thought was the last one.
You thoughts trailed to what James could be doing and what exactly made him run amuck.
So standing there with you guard semi down you didn't expect for the blunt force to knock into your spine, severing the vertebrae from each other.
Grasping out in pain you fell to the floor, face down and shivers wracking your form, clenching your eyes tight and opening them you watched as the agent ran off as a small explosion was heard further into the nest.
You were relieved, while your healing factor may be able to fix you spine, it could not reanimate you. So there you were on the floor.
It had been awhile and you had been left to your thoughts, you had heard more than a few foot steps on different hallways and even had a few pass you and the dead bodies, but they had obviously assumed you were dead and you helped them believe that by ceasing your breathing every time they passed.
It was into the 3rd hour that heavier and confident steps could be heard walking down the hallway.
This either an official or Bucky and you were sure hoping it was Bucky. Closing your eyes and stilling your breathes the feet came to pause beside you.
