Chapter 4

Rose's P.O.V

I woke up in the hospital with a bandage around my head and unable to move. I slightly turned my head to my left and saw Nate asleep on the small couch that was placed in the room, I tried to get up but was then stopped by Sarah's voice who was sitting to the right of me.

"You shouldn't do that, it'll only hurt more."

I listened to her and laid back down. "What happened?"

I see Nate shift in the corner of my eye. Instead of Sarah answering my question Nate does. "You uhm, fell down the stairs and hit your head pretty hard." I look at him suspiciously.

"Hm, okay, well when can I leave?"

The nurse then enters the room. "Oh you're up, so early though, it's 3AM."

I sigh and look at Nate. "So can I go home or do we have to wait till sunrise?" He chuckles a bit and walks towards the nurse.

"Can I take her home?" The nurse looks back and forth between Nate and I. I make a sad face with puppy dog eyes. "Yeah, okay, she may. Let me just go get the papers so you can sign her out." She leaves the room and closes the door behind her. Sarah gets up and stretches her legs.

"Ugh, my phoned died." She walks to the door, about to leave. "I'll see you in the car." She opens the door and leaves.

Nate helps me sit up and get back up on my feet. "How're you feeling?" He asks me with a concern look on his face. "I'm fine, don't worry, just a bit lightheaded that's all." I lean against the bed and stare at him.

He looks nervous now so I ask him "What really happened? The last thing I remembered was going outside with Ryan..." I trailed off, not wanting to say that I kissed him.

"I saw you and him kissing and I assumed that he kissed you, so I um, kinda got mad and pushed you away, making you fall and hit your head..."

I looked at him seriously and said "I kissed him, and I let him kiss me back." Nate stared at me with a sadness in his eyes. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to hurt you."

"It's okay Nate, we should get going." I tried to take a few steps forward but lose my balance and almost fall but Nate helps me regain my balance.

"I'll go get you a wheelchair, just sit down her for now." He runs off out the room and returns quickly with the nurse and the wheelchair.

"Here are the papers, I hope you feel better soon, and the wheelchair is Hospital property so you need to rent it." and with that Nate quickly pulls out his wallet.

"How much is it?" she goes through the papers checking. "It's about 250 Rand for two weeks, that should be long enough to get you back on your feet." Nate pulls out the money and hands it to her, then helps me onto the wheelchair and takes me to the car. Nate owns a two door green Opel Corsa 1.6I Sport, He absolutely adores it since it's his first car and it goes really fast.

Sarah is sitting in the front as we approach the car, she gets out and starts laughing at me.

"You have to use a wheelchair!?" She continues laughing as her eyes start to water up. Once she finally calms down Nate pulls her aside and talks to her, I can't really hear what they're saying but I ignore it and try to get out my wheelchair and into the passenger seat. I successfully get in the car but my wheelchair starts to roll backwards.

"Nate!!" He turns around and quickly stops it, folding it back up and putting it in the boot.

"How come she gets to sit in the front?!" Sarah complains. "Because she can't walk properly." Nate rolls his eyes, pulling his seat forward and letting Sarah climb into the back.

He starts the car and drives off into the dark, putting the radio on. "Can we put in a CD instead? The radio is so dead at this time." Sarah says, grabbing the CD case, choosing one and putting it in. The first song comes on and I sigh. "Why this CD?!" She ignores my comment and hums along to Lean On by Mo , Major Lazer & DJ Snake. Nate laughs and sings along. "Blow a kiss, fire gun, all we need is somebody to lean on. Come on Rose, lighten up."
