"This is Liam Payne, your new classmate. He moved here from Doncaster, Liam you can sit down next to Lexie, Jess please move", our class teacher introduced him.
"Oh come on", Jess mumbled aggressively, grabbed her bag and got up to sit next to her boyfriend and my male best friend Dan. Jess was also my best friend since the kindergarten. She was really stuck up actually and quite mean just like Dan, but when they liked you they were the nicest people ever. Liam smiled at me and sat down on the empty chair next to me.
"Okay, I am leaving for a minute, you can talk in this time, I'll be right back" Oh no, I bet Dan would call Liam and–
"Hey Liam!" Of course.
"He's an asshole, okay?" I fastly told Liam before he turned around.
"Where did you get those glasses from? From the hey–call–me–dumb–names–shop?" Everyone in the room expect me and Liam started to laugh and Dan high fived Bryan, his best friend who sat behind him.
"No, actually your mother gave it to me after I was done with her yesterday"
Within a second the whole class went silent and most jaws dropped. No–one, literally no–one ever called back at Dan. I didn't know why – he was really tall but thin so it couldn't be because he could hit them – had lots of respect of him.
"What did you just–“ For all our luck the teacher entered the room again and started the lesson as usually.
"That's what you get for being a faggot!" Dan shouted as he pushed his plate with spaghetti against Liam's blouse. Liam jumped up in shock and his eyes widened at his blouse.
"Dan! What the fuck was that!", I shouted and got up to walk over to Liam.
"Lexie, please stay out of this", Dan said and looked deeply into my eyes. He has been my best friend since such a long time, that's why I could read his feelings from his eyes. But this time I honestly couldn't. I never got anyway why he did that to people, once in a deep goodnight talk while Jess was asleep on my bed he told me that he didn't mean anything of what he said, but this action was just too much.
"No, Dan, just leave him alone" I stepped closer to him so not everyone could hear what I said, "not everyone sees what you say as a joke, Dan. This is not funny anymore"
He looked down at me with his mouth opened for a while, but then closed it, put the plate down and walked away, followed by Jess and some girl she always said she hated.
"Of for gods sake, this is my favourite one!" Liam was rubbing over his blouse with a serviette, but soon he throw it on the table realizing it wouldn't bring anything.
"You can clean it in the bathroom, I'll show you"
We walked to the bathroom down the hallway together and as he disappeared into it, I took my phone out of my pocket. It was vibrating all the time. As it lighted up again, I saw that Dan sent me some messages about that he's sorry and that he wanted to talk to me.
Alright when do you wanna talk? We don't have any lesson today anymore.
Then after school, can I come over to yours at 1pm?xxx
Sure xxx
To be honest, I was really mad at him, but I wasn't the person to be mad at people for a long time anyway. Just as I put my phone back into my pocket Liam came out with a frown on his face. "My mother will kill me" I giggled and put my hand on his shoulder, "ooh come on this will get clean again somehow"
He smiled at me and pulled the blouse down a bit, "thanks by the way, I really appreciate what you did"
"Hey, that's no problem we are friends, I'll always defend you" I couldn't help it, but when he smiled I got butterflies in my stomach.
