It was leaf-bare.

Snow covered the forest ground, slushy due to the mildew from trees and grass. The sun shed a weak light that barely made it through the trees. Dew still sat upon the leaves as if it owned the forest.

But the dew didn't.

The Warriors did.

Among the soft noises of the forest, there was a 'slshh' of cat's paws hitting snow. There was laughter, a bit like a human's, but different through a cat's mouth.

There was a flash of yellow fur as a cat dashed through the undergrowth, making nearby bushes shake and birds caw with fright. The cat wasn't interested in hunting.

He dashed up to a nearby rock and flung himself on to it, then jumped high into the air, twisting his body around in a flurry of fur. His paws smashed into the snow beneath with a crunch, his Amber eyes darting around.

There were footsteps coming toward him, and he tensed, but it was just a grey and white cat.

"Wolfshine," the tom sighed with relief, "I thought it was Foxspirit, Falconblaze or Shrewlight for a second there."

"Well, you got lucky," Wolfshine panted, "Shrewlight is tracking me."

Just as soon as the words came out of her mouth, a shape lunged toward the yellow tom and pinned his to the ground.

"Gotcha!"

It was Shrewlight.

"Run, Wolfshine, run!"

The she-cat was already scrambling away. This was the exercise-wander through ThunderClan territory, just don't get caught.

"You didn't see me coming, did you, Runningsun?" Shrewlight purred.

"Not until the last minute." Runningsun admitted, giving his mate a quick lick on the cheek.

"But now your fur is damp."

"That doesn't matter. After all, it shouldn't drown out my good looks."

"Runningsun!"

Shrewlight stepped off of Runningsun, giving him a look of feigned annoyance.

Runningsun gave the light-brown tabby his cheeky cat grin and scooped up some snow, throwing it onto Shrewlight's face.

As the two ran around in the snow, they were being watched.

"Look at how happy they are..."

"Good. Can we go now?"

"It almost brings a tear to me eye..."

"They're safe, can we go now?"

"Are you positive that the Dark Ones aren't here?"

"I'm sure."

Then two transparent cats, one green and one blue, padded away, leaving no footprints, scent, or fur on the brambles.

They had a faint, ghostly glow radiating power...

But not enough power.
