An unfriendly welcoming

Ida walked inside the mansion, it was warm inside. The walls were deep red and the floor was made of marble. It was very dusty, and it smelled like old people inside, but there definitely wasn't anyone over 25 there. Ida tried to walk quietly, but it was hard when every sound in the hall echoed, even the beat of your own heart.

Suddenly something grabbed her feet and she fell to the ground, she swiftly took out her machete and tried to slay whatever was in front of her. The machete touched her attachers cheek, it started bleeding but it wasn't much more than a little deeper than a paper cut.

"Well aren't you a quick one?" The attacker let go of Ida and backed away a bit. The attacker had short brown hair with lighter bangs.

"two weeks out there makes you quick. You never know when one of those things can attack you." Ida chuckled, the attacker gave a half smile.

"Are you alone?" The attacker walked around Ida. She nodded, then her stomach growled, she was hungry.

"If you still have some pride left, put down that weapon and I'll give you food. Deal?" It was very tempting to say yes, and she hadn't had any food since yesterday, and that wasn't even much. So she put down the weapons and lifted her hands over her head.

"If it's for food then I'll do anything." The attacker snorted and lightly bushed Ida to where the warmth came from. She followed and sat down on a chair by the fireplace.

"I'm Vivi, you?" After a few minutes she handed Ida a bowl with soup, it was still warm.

"Ida. Is this tomato soup?!" She said without looking up and immediately dug in. They ate in silence, Vivi had a close eye on Ida. She had spotted a knife in Ida's left pocket,  and a pistol in her jacket pocket, but she didn't say anything about it yet.

"So......... how long have you been here?" Ida asked, trying to start some kind of conversation.

"I think it's....... a week and a half now.... yeah, a week and a half." She glanced over at a wall, she had cut a small line for every day she had been in that house to keep a track of time.

"And when was the last time you saw another human being.......as in not one of those.... uh.... things?" Ida never really knew what to call them.

"They're called Sempits, and last time I talked to someone.......... It's been...... " Vivi put a hand on her chin, trying to remember how long it had been. "Last time must've been with the day after the Sempits broke into my house so..... a little more than two weeks now?" Ida was surprised, two weeks without talking to someone, she must've been really lonely.

"That's quite some time...... last time I spoke to someone was maybe 3 days ago, it was some girl with a bat. She stole one of my knives but I cut her arm, she's probably dead by now." Vivi was a little surprised, did Ida kill a human? A non-turned human?

They suddenly heard a shot outside of the house, Vivi looked out of the window and saw five Sempits that were attacking a ginger girl with a rifle.

Another shot. Vivi ran to get her bow and started shooting the Sempits.

"Help me you shit! She might die out there!" Vivi yelled and shot another one.

Pang. Crash. Slice. Crash. Slice. Slice. Schwaff. Crash.
