Aubrey Jennings never had the best life. She knew that, and never thought it would change. When she was 14 her parents divorced because they always argued. It was always over money, which they never seemed to have enough of. She blamed herself because her mom had her at 16 and she thought if she wasn't born then they would have had time get their lives together. She didn't need to blame herself though, her mother did that enough. Everything was Aubrey's fault and she made it quite clear how much she hated her. The burn mark on her arm from when she spilled some milk making cereal and her mom hit her with a hot pan was a very clear reminder of how much she was hated.

Her father loved her very much, but he couldn't protect her. He never knew how, and he was to blindly in love with her mother to really see what she had done to Aubrey. She was happy that they got divorced. She felt free and like her father and she could now move on, and be happier together.

She couldn't have been more wrong. After the divorce, he shut down. He couldn't stand losing the love of his life. It never made sense to her how he love someone much that hurt him so bad.

That was until she started dating her ex Matthew. When she met him he was so nice and made her feel so beautiful, something she never felt before. He was one of the popular kids at school, and she never understood why he chose her. She wasn't popular, pretty, or have a lot of money. He seemed like the perfect guy. She thought he truly loved her. She believed they would have that perfect high school sweetheart relationship that everyone wanted. That wasn't it at all. Shortly after high school they moved in together and everything changed. He changed from her knight in shining armor to a dark evil person she didn't even know. All the comments of how pretty she was changed into insults on every part of her body.

Then, he found all the cuts on her legs she tried so hard to hide. He lost it. All she could do was curl up in a corner while he screamed insults and punched her repeatedly. When he was done he left. She could barely stand. She was covered in blood and bruises. She knew she had to get out of there. She packed as fast as she could and left. She moved back in with her dad. She still would have flashbacks to the days in that apartment.
