I sighed, you know you're starting to get bored of your own friends when you get as low as to write your number on a high school bathroom stall wall. I didn't even write my name with it . Just " text me , 07234586729". A pathetic attempt really. If this wasn't one of the most hopeless efforts I'd ever made I wasn't sure what was. If anyone recognised the number as mine I'd just tell them I didn't write it, or that it was a coincidence, that seemed easy enough.
*1 month later*
My phone vibrated loudly in my pocket and I cautiously pulled it out, being careful not to let my science teacher see what I was doing to make sure my phone wouldn't be confiscated. I had a text from an unknown number .
It read :
"Hey mystery man, heard you needed a friend? My days been great, assuming you asked xx"Confused was an understatement to how I was feeling, I had no idea weather to reply to the text or not. Why would an unknown number text me telling me how their day has been and asking if I needed a friend? It wasn't an everyday situation if there ever was one.
I shoved my phone back into my pocket, deciding to ignore the mystery text I had acquired. That was until 5 minutes later I received another.
"No reply? You must've already found a friend mystery man . Sorry to bother you, at least I found a new adventure in a bathroom stall. xx"
The bathroom stall. I'd completely forgotten about that, someone told me it even been covered up. Had my mystery texter had my number saved for a while then? The text was already leaving me with unanswered questions and doubts.
"Hey mystery person no.2, Mystery man is cute but I much prefer Mitch. I'm glad your day has been going well.. Could've sworn the number was covered over though xx"
The person that was texting me was in the school sure enough, and most probably a boy since they'd found my number in the boys stall.. I couldn't help but wonder if he was cute .
I once again received a text
"mitch , I like it, the number was covered over .. Had the number for a while - yours truly xx"
The yours truly at the end of his message had made me laugh more than necessary , and I liked the fact he eventually chose to chase me up .
"Yours truly, I thought you were a highschool student not an 80 year old man.. - yours sincerely , Mitch (see, you're supposed to put a name at the end of those mystery boy)".
I went to bed that night not knowing his name or anything other than what could have been blooming could've been beautiful.
For the next few weeks me and my mystery boy texted non stop, he'd text me from the moment I woke up to the moment I'd go to bed, but he insisted on his name not being an important factor of it. . I'd even told my best friend Kirstin about him, though she was popular and had people falling at her feet with the snap of her finger she had no idea of anyone that would ever text the way he texted me.. It was weird.
"I don't get it kit, I could recite his life story but I don't know his name" i sighed whilst I spoke to her.
"Who knows babe, boys are weird" she replied, rubbing my back. She was right.
I had a text from him as soon as we sat down for lunch, he had some wierd schedule for texting me which at first I couldn't stand, and very nearly blocked him for a couple of times but it started to grow on me.
When I woke up I'd always have a text that said "good morning Mitchie( the first time he'd called me that I think I nearly puked, nobody had called me that since I was 5. Then Kirstin decided it was her name too) I hope you slept well, my day is going - insert however his day was going from the half an hour before me he woke up- assuming you'd asked. Lol xx"
