Who gets Maya

~Cory's Pov~
I was in a very good sleep but I heard the phone ring. I didn't hear it at first, but Topenga did and made me answer it. First I checked the time and saw that it was 1:47am. Great I have school today too.
"Hello?" I said groggy
"Yes, this is the hospital,(ohhhhh no), you need to get here right away." The nurse said
"W-why?" I stuttered
The next thing I heard was heartbreaking
"One of the Hart's passed." I immediately hung up the phone and woke everyone up. Everyone stayed the night at our house.
"Cory, what are you doing?" Topenga asked
"We need to go to the hospital NOW!" I whispered. Everyone must have heard because we were all running to the car and sped off to the hospital. On the way there Shawn was crying. It's going to be hard for him.
~Farkel's Pov~
We arrived at the hospital and ran inside. I didn't hear a thing. I was too focused on Maya. We got to the room to see Maya on the bed still, but Katy was no where. Shawn burst into more tears than ever. I'm scared for Maya. Her dad left and now this happened to her mom. We weren't the only ones there though. The nurse escorted us to the hall and saw Maya's dad, Kermit, there.
"Where's Maya? Is she OK who is this?" He asked pointing to Shawn
"She's fine, and this is Shawn, more of a father and husband you'll ever be to Maya and Katy." Lucas exclaimed
"Nice of you to take my family from me." Kermit yelled
"You walked out on them, and you're not even worried about...about... about K-Katy." Shawn cried
"I am... why, what's wrong with her?"
"Well maybe of you stayed with your family you'll know." Riley cried
"She passed" Mr. Matthews whispered
"No, no, no no" Kermit said," I can't take care of Maya! My family wouldn't want her. I can't take care of herI don't have any money!... wait, never mind I can. I'm doing well. Wooo, at first I thought I couldn't take care of my daughter." He said relieved
"Then why didn't you stay?" Lucas asked
"I couldn't take care of her then, I wasn't ready." Kermit told him
"But now you are" Riley said
"Maya wouldn't want to go with you." I said, "you did walk out on them"
"I guess we'll have to see now won't we." He sassed. Then Kermit left. Some father he is
~Shawn's Pov~
That's her father. He doesn't seem too bad. How could he walk out on a family like that. He doesn't care about his daughter or ex wife. He can't take Maya. I will take responsibility for her any day.
~Riley's Pov~
He's here again and this time, might take Maya.
"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH"
We all ran into the room to Maya attempting to sit up and crying.
"MAYA! Maya calm down, calm down, shhhhhhhh, I got you OK, shh." Mom said soothingly while hugging her.
I was now in tears when Maya was whimpering into mom's shoulder.
"Mrs. Matthews, where's mom and Dad?" Maya asked. DAD?! Why would she care about him?
"She has amnesia, remember." Dad whispered. This brought relief to all of us.
"Ohhhhh honey, your dad left you when you were younger." Mom told her
"NO HE DIDN'T!" Maya screamed
"OK, OK he didn't he's at work to provide food for you." Mom assured her. That's when I noticed Lucas was gone.
~Lucas's Pov~
When I found out Maya wanted to know where her dad is I ran out to get Kermit.
"KERMIT! WAIT!" I yelled after him. He stopped and turned around
"Yes?" He asked
"Maya's awake, she wants to see you." I told him
"Why me?" He questioned
"I don't know" I said. We ran down the hall into the Hart's room. They all backed away from the bed.
"Maya?" Kermit asked
"Are you da-" Maya started after a while she started crying again. Kermit tried to comfort her but Maya pushed him away.
"How could you leave us?" She whimpered. I feel bad now. At least she has some of her memory back. With that he left. Leaving Maya cry. Mrs. Matthews was about to comfort her when Mr. Matthews took over.
"Maya, do you remember me?" He asked
"Ya, Cory Matthews, you're Riley's dad. My teacher." She answered
"Who's Riley?" He asked
"My best friend. She got me through everything from when dad left to... everything... except when Huckleberry called me a stack of pancakes." Maya exclaimed... I feel bad for that now.
"Who are your best friends?" He questioned
" Easy it's Riley, Huckleberry or as normal people call him Lucas, Zay, and Farkle" She answered
"Who is in my family?" He asked
"Topenga, Auggie, Riley, and me. You kind of accepted me into your family." She exclaimed
"Who do you have crush on, thats 3 years older than you?" He asked
"...Josh? Your younger brother?" She questioned. Ohhh that's why she acted like that.
"Yup. Who is the person, besides me, who took the role of your father?" He asked. At this Shawn's breath hitched
Maya was thinking hard about this.
"You taught me to forgive him but I couldn't. Did I know the person before or after that?" She asked
"Before and after." Mr. Matthews told her
"........... you're brother? The one who's president of Stupidville? Maya questioned
"No and it's St.Upidtown. who's my brother?." He responded
"......Eric?.........and ummmmmm.......give me the first letter." Maya demanded
"Yes, and S" Mr. Matthews said
"Sssss... Steven?" Maya asked
"Nope" Matthews said
"Stephen." Maya said
"No" Matthews told her, slightly worrying
"Shane" Maya said.
"No, you're close" Matthews said. Maya thought hard for a while.
"........Shawn?.......Hunnnnnnnnter?" She questioned Shawn let his breath out
"Yes" Matthews said. Maya must have felt better because when Riley jumped on the bed and hugged Maya to death, she didn't seem fased.
"I'm sorry, Peaches." Riley cried
"It's OK, honey" Maya said. Riley let go of Maya and Shawn slowly walked over to Maya. Farkle grabbed Riley's shoulders and pulled her back.
"Hey, Maya" Shawn said
"Sup, Ace" Maya responded, "Where's mom?" Shawn wrapped Maya in a hug.
"Do you remember what happened a few days ago?" Shawn asked
"Ya, mom and I got in a car acci-" Maya's breath hitched, "dent" she finished
"I'm so sorry, Maya. Your dad wants to take custody of you." Shawn said
~Maya's Pov~
Mom's gone and Dad wants to take custody of me. I won't go through with it. I'm not going with him.
"O-ok" I said trying not to cry, it didn't work. My friends had to leave, they all said bye and gave me one last hug. I tried to sleep but I just cried. I cried so much, I didn't know I feel asleep.

This chapter was fun to write. I have bigger and better things planned for the next chapters.
